Default Booking rink ice times for hockey

Hey gang just wondering if there are any other rinks I should look into regarding booking late ice times.

The City charges $210 for their rinks.

I know the Flames community arena off of Crowchild has a late option for only $130 when it's at 11:30pm.

Are there any other rinks that offer something like that?

We plan to start around 10pm or so anyway but having the cheaper and later option is good too. Thanks man.

Oh yea, if there are any of you who are beginner to hockey, i.e. having problems with skating and what not, but too scared to just join a shinny game and want to play with a bunch of n00bs, send me a message and i'll let you know when we set things up.

I'm basically just going to teach the gang the simple stuff I learned in NCHL lol

You play hockey now? Let me know when you have ice, I'll come out. We've been playing NCHL the last couple years.

Cardel has some super cheap rates for summer only a friend of mine was charging 220 for 17 ice times (prime time) so I would think it was close to the city rate

Yeah, Cardel is my choice for bookings. I think Fairview had some good rates the last time I checked too.

I'd be willing to play lite and work on passing if you don't mind?

a couple buddies rent rinks over at don hartman, chestermere and a couple other places throughout the summer... its usually cheaper (like $150-180) and great times... like 6pm

haha seriously we are looking for beginner players only. If you are seriously beginner i.e. can not backwards skate, can not crossover, can not stop well, can't shoot etc. Please send me a message.

I have a beginner goalie lined up. The plan is to practice passing, drills, 2 on 1, 3 on 2, zone breakouts, positioning etc. Afterwards we will scrimmage.

We went and played shinny with some other guys and got owned on the weekend haha

BTW, where do you buy those net covers? Where you have to shoot the corners and 5 hole if you want to score?

Most if not all rinks carry the shooter tutors. Crap tire might still sell the old school target ones.

Pretty much all rinks should have them for you to use.

Max - take a power skating class. You can learn hockey skills on the pond & playing shinny at the rink. Learning skating fundamentals early, prevents bad habits.

There won't be any pucks, so be prepared.

The power skating and hockey classes at the UofC did wonders when I was learning.

I would love to come out to something like this. I'm definitely not a beginner anymore but the team I play with doesn't do any practices (kinda pisses me off). I never get the chance to work on any of my weaknesses.

Whenever my team does get together for a non-league time they always play shinny... which is what I started playing in a league to get away from (I like the structured league play - refs, whistles, faceoffs, etc).

Haha I know Bart, I'm Chinese too man lol.

Just didn't know Sammy was such an athlete, I'm used to him holding a badminton racquet.

Sam - take the power skating class at U of C. A bunch of my buddies and I did it, they work on all your skills and it helps a bunch (as long as you practice what they preach). Let me know if you guys ever want to have a shinny with us, we'll mix the teams up. It'll help you get better.

Shinny with more advanced guys isn't all bad... as long as they're not puck/ice hogs.

haha yea it's all good man. I still have my team and another group I can join shinny with where their skill levels are much higher than mine.

I plan to sign up with Tucker hockey sometime this year to improve my skills.

Right now I somehow convinced my non hockey playing friends to get in and a bunch of others who haven't played in awhile to get in. It's going to be fun with a huge group of friends we can slowly progress together.
