That must have been a pretty tame Racoon Ben.
Those narrow DOF shots must have been taken with a 50mm 1.8, right?

The raccoon LOVES Peanuts haha, I could lure him in no problem...there was no zoom on that picture, he was about 8" from the cam, haha
I dont have any other lens for my 300D yet...just the one it comes with, 18-55mm.
I used the following modes:

For sure. Even if I thought I could spend the money right now, I still couldn't decide on a telephoto. And I still owe you a ride in the 'stang.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

I think I'd have to borrow it for a year or so to see if I really liked it.............. Actually IS is just too expensive of an option for me right now, except for the 28-135mm IS, which might be a good all around lens.Originally posted by Melinda

The minimum for me would be the 70-200L F4. The only problem is that I'd probably want more reach, in which case I should get the F2.8 and a 1.4x or 2x teleconverter and still be able to shoot reasonable fast. OR the 100-300L F4.
I like the 70-200L F4's compactness though.
There's some good deals in Ebay for 2.8's that look to be in better condition then the used $1300 ones at The Camera Store.
After using a $500 Sigma 28-300mm for 2 weeks, I've found it to be inconsistant and not especially sharp.

Yeah I started with a 70-200 F4 and within 2 weeks I took it back and payed the extra $1500 to upgrade to the f 2.8...there was NO quality when it came to any quick motion photography because the apperture wouldn't open up as big as I needed it (at the time I was working on hockey stuff and some car stuff) So I had to go for the IS and all the other stuff...ended up costing the big bucks right away but it's paid off for me and probably save me in the long runOriginally posted by Ekliptix

heres a picture i took in vietnam.
damnit i really need a place to upload.
Can you let me know what this deal is as well. I bought the 50mm f1.8 and then I bought Sigma 75-300mm APO for a cheaper telephoto. The Sigma is just ok, but I would like to upgrade to a canon 70-200 f4 or f2.8 (if the money is there). I am also despretly needing a flash for my setup. The onboard for the 300D is too inconsistant and too low powered.Originally posted by benyl
