Going camping this weekend around invermere, and was hoping to pick up some fireworks on the way out.. Anyone know a place on the way to invermere/radium that sells them? Thanks in advance!

You need to get out of the provincial parks in order to get some.

Sicamous, is the closest that I can think off...

there are also some places near Strathmore If I recall

yep you can find them there but they're not supposed to be selling it or discharging, that was a huge disappointment to my whole group that went houseboating 2 weeks ago because 7 of us spend ~$40 each on fireworks, theres a province-wide ban there or something except for one month, in the fken winter... or if you get permission from the area fire chief, but we set them off anyways of course.

this is what it says about AB, always the gay compared to the states.

    • Fireworks cannot be purchased or discharged anywhere in Alberta without a permit. If you are discharging on public lands or within a forest protection area as defined by the Public Lands Act or the Forest and Prairie Protection Act, you must obtain a permit from a Forest Officer. In every other case, you must receive a permit from the municipality before you can use, sell, possess, purchase or discharge any type of fireworks in that municipality.

Hmm.. Sicamous is definitely not on the route to Invermere. Strathmore sounds good, I can take a drive out there tonight or tomorrow so I'm not rushing on Friday morning. Anyone know where exactly in Strathmore?

On a somewhat related note, anyone of a place you can go to in Calgary to sharpen an axe?

The only place I remember seeing fireworks is on the highway towards revelstoke there is a general store a ways past edgewater that had them last time I was there, but that was years ago now so I dont know if they would still have them. Was just one of those little crap displays like they used to have all over in small towns.
I think this is the one:
    Pip's Country Store

    4806 Selkirk, Edgewater, BC V0A 1E0
    250-347-9519
I would probably call and check though.
It made me lol though when I went firework shopping in houston for new years in a big warehouse where they had absolutely everything. You weren't supposed to touch anything though, had to go directly into your shopping cart from the workers as they had police and firemen all over patrolling

You can buy Fireworks at the gas station in Longview. It might be a little far south, thought I'd throw it out there.

Ooo yeah Longview isn't too far out. Could probably even go after work some time this week if the gas station is open. Was it the race trac gas that has them? Or the Esso? (those are the only two that I see on google maps)

You can buy fireworks at the gas station across from the Timber Ridge's 5 minutes from Invermere unless something has changed in the last year.

    fireworks are legal in alberta.
they are illegal to set off in calgary.
go to almost any gas station/convenience store outside of calgary and they will have some kind of locked up display. shit even the candy store in claresholm sells them.

I forget the name of it, but it's the privately owned one on the West side of the highway, just at the North tip in town.

was googling around an found this thread, I'm going to invermere in 2-3 weeks time, so is fireworks illegal there? my co-works are telling me that its not really, but as long as i'm in somewhat rural area and dont do stupid stuff with them i'd be fine.
