    Default Mosquitoes

Anyone else noticing how bad they are this year?

Can't do anything without getting swarmed by them!

Golfing, playing tennis, going for a walk.

    Why are they so bad?

THIS. the larvae develop in pools of standing water, which is why you see more when it rains like it has been all year. try to get rid of any standing water (bueckets, etc.) around your yard.

I just heard about this a few days ago.

Apparently, you can spray Listerine and the mosquitoes won't touch you.

I checked with a couple of people and they said its true, I haven't tried it personally.

the landscaping company in my townhouse complex sprays our area, idk if its legal but it helps a bit i noticed

we just bought a few venus fly traps from crappy tire for the heck of it and we've put one at every level of the house with positive results lol, the traps open up with a shriveled mosquito carcase - always get a kick outta that.

I fucking HATE mosquitoes. It's unbearable, the golf courses are infested with them. Any other magical repellents other than listerine? I'll try anything!!!

Really? even with deet? I hate mosquitos with a passion. Just hope the dragonflies are out in full force soon. I remember last year I had a HUGE dragonfly on my backyard window.

Hang this on your neck and you will be good to go!

If mosquitoes are still biting you and you are wearing repellent, get better repellent.
Nothings bites through this: Bens Wilderness repoellent- 30% DEET Be careful though. It'll take the tint off your sunglasses and dissolve polyester shirts.

30% is the legal maximum for DEET in canada. I've heard stories that you can get high concentrations in the US, but that's probably not healthy.

I've diagnosed myself with mosquitophobia. Out walking my dogs last night in Tuscany, I was flailing my arms and walking as fast as possible. They are just horrible. It also doesn't help that they like to feast on me. If I am out with my family, the *only* go for me.

I personally *hate* putting on insect repellent cause I hate the waxiness of it on my skin plus the smell usually makes me gag. My wife has a homeopathic remedy that's supposed to repel them. I'll give that a try tonight and see how it goes. You can also get a bug jacket:

This will keep them away from your head/face but won't do anything for the rest of your body and I find they can easily just bite though even 5 layers of clothes.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

Any beyond geniuses want to go ahead and genetically engineer a self-destructing mosquito that will enter the gene pool and take out all mosquitoes?

    Thank you.
