Default Shop to put red lip stripe on wheels

I'm gettin a new set of wheels and want to get a color matched stripe put on the rims so they match my truck. the rims are flat black. I was thinking a red stripe, like you could get on Volk Time Attacks

still debating if I should go the Chinese route and get fake red Volk stickers too. not that I want to pretend my rims are Volks.. I just think a little bit more red on the rims would look badass.

instead of a real Volk sticker on replica Volk wheels, why not get a red sticker that says poser?

I just think a little bit more red on the rims would look badass.

I could also get one that says "Go Fuck Yourself, I Don't Care About Your Opinion, And Nobody Gives A Shit Anyways" and split it across all four rims for the extra custom touch

Well that all depends on the overall size of the rims.

if they're smaller the wording may be jumbled if you decide to put it across each spoke.

    We don't though.

But seriously won't one of the highly recommend paint/body shop places be able to do this for you? Shouldn't really be that hard of a job.

yeah I figure Screamin Paintworks or one of the wheel repair shops can help me out. I just wanted to check and see if somebody had some experience with this specific scenario, and if so who they used..

Isn't it pretty common to do this with tape as well? Might be easier and a good DIY

tape hey? didn't think about that. paint might look better though, how well could a tape stripe hold up on a rim? especially when it is going to be bent around the lip, I don't see the edge staying down for all that long and it could trap moisture against the wheel.

Terrible idea ... When you're driving it looks worse than you can imagine. Every un-even imperfection stands out. Take it to a shop and get it done professionally. I suggest Contemporary Coachworks. I've seen them do it before and turn out well.

....I think he meant tape the wheel yourself and paint it....

Don't have any personal experience with the process but I think it's common on a motorcycle rim pinstripe, etc.

I find it funny that back in the day you were the biggest hater of JDM posers haha.

You can use pin stripping vinyl and as long as you don’t pressure wash it from ½” away it’ll last a decent amount of time. Plus you can peel it off once you get sick of it.

it really is just a cosmetic thing, I think the wheels look better with a bit more color on them. I could just get red Konig stickers in a Volk styleinstead. I don't really care about the Volk name at all.

I still don't like JDM stuff lol you won't see me with yellow fogs, super obscure japanese cosmic black window trim or some Hilux badges on my truck or anything. I just like their rims

I think I'll try out the pinstriping tape for this summer, if I don't dig the black & red look I'll get the rims re-done in a different color next summer. save myself some cash

This is not a JDM thing. This was going on with the muscle guys back in the 70's. You can easily do it yourself.

You can get them off of e-bay too.

i bet the easiest way to diy with somewhat okay results for ONE pinstrip on the lip each is to jack up one of the sides of the front of the truck, put a bare rim on and spin it (assuming its not locked in 4wd or w/e) then take your paint and a fine brush or mini roller and hold it on the lip until a complete revolution or until you think it's on thick enough.

    just a suggestion

saturated hunk of foam would prob spread it more evenly, the paint brush bristle would spread around the contour weird.. not a bad idea though to be honest haha, it would be super easy this way..
