a friend of mine did it with red tape and it looks pretty good actually. I believe he just used red electrical tape. I couldn't tell until he told me and I looked up close, and even then it looked pretty decent. Maybe try this route and see if you like the red first? He's on this forum as well, so I'll let him chime in if he wants to.

The volk stickers on non-volks however, is just pure tacky IMO.

I used model airplane pinstriping on my wheels. Best way to go cause you can change it whenever you want. It made it easier for me when I changed my color schemes on my car.

When I first got them (no stripe):

    Red pinstripe last year:

White pinstripe this year when I went with the 'stormtrooper' theme:

Like I said, its easy to put on, lasts decently, and isn't permanent in case I decide I don't like it.

Please don't put Volk stickers on it... or any for that matter... I think a set of red lugs would suit it nicely if you went with the red stripe.

wow ^ that looks really good. Where can i buy the airplane tape? How easy is it to put on and get perfectly aligned?

i wouldnt mind a closeup to see how you align the tape exactly. Im guessing it goes along the inner wheel so you mainly see the side of the tape standing parrallel to it.

wow that does look good! do you just get that stuff from PMS Hobby or a place like that? that definitely looks like the way to go.

I'm still flip flopping on the decal thing.. red lugs might be too subtle, these rims are really low offset. I'll have to experiment.

he has 18s, the copies I'm getting are only available in 17s and are the TE-37X style. I was going to get real volks but when the choice is $1,000 per rim or $1,000 for all four rims...

You could always do a red vinyl decal (no volk racing) over one of the spokes. Looks cool rolling too.

Tough part depending on what you want on it is finding a place that can cut something so small and detailed. Im currently trying to have a local vinyl place cut replacement Volk stickers or the above SL sticker and its not as easy as it sounds apparently. (For real Volks.. dont worry)

    You need regular TE stickers?

I have LE's, and looking for the Volk stickers as mine have peeled off. (Same as TE's)
I was hoping for a different color, but I am running out of options unless I order from the US.
I thought the SL sticker would be a nice color addition...havent heard back to see if one local guy can use his plotter or not for that one.

I went to PMS hobby craft yesterday and got some pinstripping tape as recommended in here, put it on but the tape just is too light and not sticky enough to stay. After a short drive it started coming off this morning so i took it off.

Went and got black electrical tape and played around with my rim and came up with this. Im curious as to how well its going to stay on.

What you think? Does it look too ricey?

Personally, I don't like it at all. Even in pictures it looks like exactly what it is, electrical tape on wheels. It looks cheap IMO. The red pinstripe my friend did, you couldn't really tell unless you looked up close.

But then again, it's your wheels so do as you please.

I tried to use it along the outter edge of the rim but it wont stay perfectly flat because its at an angle.

Does your friend use pinstripping tape? I tried it and it doesnt stay on, that tape is super thin and not very sticky.

^in this 25+ weather and especially the front rims, i'm going to assume that any tape less sticky than duct or speed tape will not stay on, glue will turn into warm molasses.

lol ya it was my girlfriends idea to paint them red. I can easily paint over it later if i decide to. If i did, i would do black. I dont know the red is different and adds some edge to the rim.
