Default Galaxy S II Announced for Bell, Virgin, and SaskTel

We've already had some indication of where and when the Galaxy S II would land in Canada, and three carriers have now finally made things fully official (even if they haven't yet got completely specific). That includes Bell and Virgin Mobile -- neither of which are confirming a price at the moment -- plus regional carrier SaskTel, which plans to offer the phone for $79.99 on a three-year contract. SaskTel and Virgin Mobile both also say that the phone will be available in the coming weeks, while Bell isn't offering much more than a chance to win the phone in a contest that ends July 19th -- we've previously heard that the phone will be hitting Bell on July 14th. Perhaps not surprisingly, it's looking like the phone will also alternatively be known as the "Galaxy S II" or "Galaxy S II 4G" depending on the carrier.

Too bad Rogers will probably not carry it. Guess I'll have to buy one off Kijiji or something.

Tempted, but I want to see what this Nexus Prime is all about first.

And who says we don't get phones before the US.. Especially the high end ones.

    Rogers is getting this instead.

Looks very similar and the specs look about the same.
Cannot decide between this and the sensation though but I prefer the aluminum over the plastic along with sense 3.0.

I cant wait for this phone. I'll probably have to end up paying for it but its hard to say its not worth it. This and the new Tab, I'll have a big samsung family.

Ya I want this phone, but will be hard to justify since my SGS isn't even a year old yet. I don't think I need a dual core until Ice Cream Sandwich is out anyway.

Gotcha, I saw the 1.2ghz and assumed it was the dual core.
The sensation should be much faster then my legend, so that will be nice, but the screen sure isnt as nice as on the SG II.

Ugh still don't know what to do. I love android but physical keyboard its still so hard to get away from. Its so fast. But damn the s 2 ifs looking so good.

Wrote this from my nexus and using swype. Also another reason why I love android

In about 2-3 months AT&T will release the Samsung Attain aka a copy of the SGS2 similar in specs. I give Rogers about 3-5 months till releasing the Samsung Attain, because they would want to sell some of the Samsung Galaxy Infuse before releasing another high end smartphone. By then Bell will have another high end Android phone lol.

This looks fantastic, but I too have a fairly new Galaxy S.

I think I will try to hold out for the Nexus Prime. A pure google phone would save a lot of flashing headaches.

After looking more at the comparisons between the SGS 2 and the sensation, it is making it an even harder choice. Better performance, better screen but lower resolution, more ram, thinner and lighter etc

Definitely considering leaving the blackberry for this. Wonder if it will be sold just the unit, and if it's nfc capable.

I'm definitely ditching my blackberry for this phone, and I'm paying for it up front too. I'm 100% finished with contracts, but I still want to stay with Rogers but I'm not willing to wait for 4-5 months until they release it. Can't wait!

Oh, and there's a draw you can enter to win the phone from Bell here

Thought I would bump this instead of the sensation thread over and over.
Since it comes out tomorrow, I saw on mobile syrup if you register on the VM website for updates they will send you a special offer which is supposedly a 6gb/$30 deal which has not happened before iirc on VM. I will definitely have to change my plan to that tomorrow

Just a note that Samsung will be replacing the processor in the S2 with the Tegra 2 chip in the near future. Probably worth the wait if you're not in a rush.

I think I'd rather have the Exynos chip.

Performance of Tegra 2 has not been that impressive in terms of h.264 playback. This is based on user experience with the Motorola Xoom tablet. On the other hand, Exynos 4210 promises 1080p video playback at 30fps.
