Do it up. I didn't care for the first few shots of the car, but seeing a live video of it makes it look a lot better.Originally posted by max_boost

Reasons why Drumheller area wouldn't make a good race track venue...

I will allow you to have a Carrera GTS.
I would think that the GT3/GT3 RS/ GT2/GT2 RS will stay manual as they are the track oriented models.
Pretty sure all the PDK models are faster around a track, but I know what you mean :P
To me its all about performance, people spend huge money on parts to improve their lap times by very small amounts. Pdk starts you significanty ahead of the curve. I've driven a number of porsches on race tracks over the years, including several pdk equipped cars. No comparison when you focus entirely on steering, braking and cornering speed while leaving the shifting to the much smarter computer. It is beyond amazing to me how awesome pdk is on the track.
All gearboxes in the new 991 will be pdk based even if you shift yourself, clutch and shifter will be illusions and im sure they will have full auto modes included.
You can always buy a 997 gt3 or even more raw a 996 gt3 to be one with the shifter.

I assume there will still be the weight savings in the manual transmission but the speed at which it can shift is it's advantage along with the launch control. I have never driven a 911 though only ridden in a C2S and Turbo, but I can imagine that the track advantages would be great as you said.
I do intend to get a White 997 GT3 though in due time, I must just work through my progression of vehicles towards it.
Hopefully they have one at the Road Show next week
