    Default 2012 Porsche 911 (991) First Details

Well here are some of the newest details on the 991 911 set to be revealed later this year.
    Main Details
    -7spd Manual or PDK
    -3.4L 350 HP Carrera (Same as Boxster/Cayman with 10+hp), 3.8L 400 HP Carrera S
-Larger yet lighter (Extra length will help with hybrid version which will be a 991.2)
-Revised interior, kind of a mix between a 997 and a panamera, kind of neat I suppose, makes it more like a GT
    -Electronic hand brake
edit: Also, Carrera & Carrera S will be first out, I would asusme that other variants will follow in 2012 aswell, perhaps still as a 2012 MY?

I think with the steeper lights and more rake on the windscreen it will look pretty good, especially once it is unveiled with all of the camo. I am a huge fan of the 997 so an evolution of that should be great.

Rear end looks funny. But maybe it will grow on me. 997 is still better looking IMO.

A 7 speed manual seems silly to me, but thankfully this will lower the price of 997's.

jesus what would the shift knob pattern be for a 7 speed manual?

Doesn't make it any less beautiful though. I think Porsche is one of the few companies that can pull it off.

Should help with fuel economy though with the 7th gear.

I love them, the one car that can evolve gradually while still being true to it's RR roots.

if that's actually how it's going to be it's pretty nuts haha.

Good thing porsche released that official picture.

Edited to add, since i looked at this from my iphone earlier and now on my pc, that this is a very nice step in the evolution of the 911.

Not feeling the design, I miss the 993's "smallness" and the more upright windshield. This thing looks huge. First 7 speed manual in a production car?

Never even noticed the 7 speed manual part. I just assumed it would be some sort of sequential/paddle shifter type gear box. I cant imagine how they'd be able to pull off a 7 speed traditional manual.

I know schockers picture was a joke, but i can only imagine how cumbersome that would be to use. 2 strokes to shift a single gear.

Perhaps they replaced the traditional handbrake with a second gear shift consisting of neutral and seventh gear. 997 is the best a modern porsche can be (styling wise imo)

You can't blame Porsche for the size, government safety regulations require so much extra hardware that the cars have to grow. The 993 is a beautiful car but the 964 still has upright headlights, that's the one for me. A 3.6 turbo as in Bad Boys.

Werd, it says somewhere in the article that it would add like 120lbs to keep it about the same size with the enw regulations, but instead it is down like 55lbs or so. I still love the 993 turbo, but if you look for used ones you can still find lower mileage ones for around 100k US
