    Default Epp's Rx7, Goal of 600rwhp on 12psi.

Finally going to post a build thread.. didn't want to do it slowly so I'm about half way through maybe a little more. Some might remember the flat black Rx7 that I built last year. The car had a semi-built 302 in the car. It ran a 13.9 @ 106 spinning down the track. PICS of the old setup.

That was the build of last year. I got bored really fast, the car made an estimated 260-280rwhp not bad for a 3000lbs car. But I wanted something more. So, I sold the 302 long block, sold the tranny that was in it, sold all the MSD stuff and started over.. from scratch.

    This time:
351w bored and stroked to a 408w fully forged internals good to 1500hp.
    ARP head studs
    10:1 compression
CSU blow through carb (best in the business?)
    .560 lift comp cam
    TKO600 transmission
    McCloud duel plate clutch
Complete electronic ignition (no more distributor)
    Water / Meth
Complete new fuel system to support 1000hp.
MP T76 Ball Bearing turbo with a .96 AR
    Holley Stealth Intake
    Edlebrock Vic Jr. Heads
    More stuff I probably forgot.

    The goal:

Make 600rwhp in a 3000lbs car on 12psi of boost. It's ambitious but with the right setup It could do it. I love pictures, and I hate reading and I'm sure you guys do as-well.

Pics of the build so far.

This thing is huge, way bigger in person then I thought it would be.

Master Power T76 ball bearing turbo with .96 exhaust AR and a .80 intake compressor.

Some useless piping made for a 351w turbo mustang but I'll make it work.

ps. Revhard you'll be getting a call soon!!

That's all for now, just working on getting the peices together slowly but surely. Probably not this summer but next summer she should be ready to rip it up.

Awesome build My friend is building a stroked 351. He also is shooting for 600hp only N/A. He just got Vic jr heads and man are the valves huge as well. He has the block decked and honed and almost together. Can't wait to see ya run at the track, your car should be a terror.

600HP from an NA stoker 351w is going to be pretty tough, he already bought the wrong heads if he wanted to hit that. 600 Wheel from an NA 408w at our altitude is a pretty hard feat. You pretty much can't use any OTS parts for that much power. My motor was estimated to make 400rwhp NA and thats with victor Jr. The biggest roller cam comp makes 408w 10:1 compression ect. But good on him for trying! Traction is the only thing I'm worried about, the turbo 2 diff held good last year but this year I think it might be boom. Even then getting a tire to stick this to the ground will be tough.

    Horsepower's easy, traction's not.

Pft, traction is easy. Just not on street tires.

He had the block decked so it should run 10.5/1 and his car should hold, its a sub frame up build on a 90 stang 40k+ deep. This year hes running with out the stroker kit and doing that over winter. @>2700lbs it should be tricky as well to have it hook.

I guess we'll see! Too bad Race city won't be open to test her out. Guess I have to trailer her to Edmonsuk!

The rotary purists will be heartbroken.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with putting an piston engine like this in it. Especially when, if set up right, helps it makes the car something that would wreck virtually anything else from a roll.

    Please and thank you.

I've also owned two FCs, and they had an excellent chassis and suspension design. With the only area (power) taken care of - this could be a very sweet sleeper.

What kind of drivetrain upgrades do you intend? I can't imagine stock would stand up for a particularily long time - especially when tracking it from a dead start.

    Not that hard. Buddy had a 600hp 351, now has a 700hp 399.
Doesn't even cost that much, runs strong for 100's of passes at a time.
This car is lighter, so it should be a blast!!

He's built numerous motors and isn't a bragger, so I think he has a pretty good Idea what is he could possible get. And no I don't mean 600whp if you thought that was what I meant

The FC is not a very good high power traction chassis, it has poor anti squat characteristics being IRS, if drag is your goal, put a solid axle in it while your at it.. You also have way more ratio choices then.
I break the Turbo II rear ends with 13b power, and the car has perceptibly gotten slower due to traction issues past 400 rwhp, it was probably at its best with a 275 rear tire( widest in stock fender) and 360 rwhp. Also you need to put a cage in it that ties the chassis together from the rear to in front of the doors, look how long the FC doors are. Its really weak in that area. You can tell when you are making real power in an FC when your roof creases just in front of the sunroof.

It will get a cage in it, it has too. Also was already planning on a grannies 8.8 swap with a 3.55 gear. Do you have any pictures of ruined FC bodys? I'd like to see one!
