Spotted: flipped car in Canyon Meadows

We were on our way home from watching Stampede fireworks. Two blocks from our house, on a normal residential street (50 km/hr) there was a car flipped.
Stopped and took some pics while my wife talked with the cop.

Turns out lady who lives across the street heard and went outside to see the guy take off running from the crash. Cop said there was open alcohol in the car and my wife noticed a bunch of beer bottle caps, etc. that must have fallen out of the car while it flipped.

My question is... how do you flip a car on a small residential street?











Sad thing is the cop told my wife he (just one cop) sees 8-10 drunk driving crashes per night during the Stampede

I might be missing something here, but unless its a stolen vehicle why would you run away? cops can find out everything about the owner of the vehicle

So the driver can sober up before going to the cops and make up some BS story about what happened in hopes there's not beer bottles everywhere inside would be my guess.

Because drunk driver...

People ditch their car so they don't get nailed with a DUI. They can make up some BS story about the car being stolen, or that they werent drinking but bumped their head hard and don't remember fleeing the scene as long as they don't report it till the morning and have a good story (which lawyers help them with if they are sober enough to call one before the cops come knocking). Fortunately most drunk drivers are smart enough to run away, but not smart enough to call a lawyer and then they usually end up with DUI and Hit and Run.


Had the same thing happen on my street in Shawneesey but the driver took out 4 parked cars then ran on foot. I talked to the cops when they arrived and he said he'd bet money that the guy is probably home already.

Sure enough they ran his plates and another cruiser went to his house to find him completely wasted and cut up from the crash.

I've seen a few retarded drunken drivers work before, but this one is impressive... how the fuck do you flip a car by hitting one that is parked?

Also - the media never seems to run any of these stories during stampede but I see them in the rest of the year... bad for business?
