Default Rust Questions for 69 MGB

    Hey guys,
i have a couple of questions about some rust spots in my 1969 MGB. Basically I just need to know an experts opinion on how I should treat these spots of rust. I really have no clue. In your replies if you do not mind include extra details like brand names etc. I do not want the rust returning to further weaken the bottom of my car. I am going to bolt a piece 14 galvanized steel down to strengthen the bottom and then place carpet over so eye appeal is no big deal....as long as the rust doesnt come back. ANY HELP? All and any will be appreciated. If pictures would be of any help just email me. [email protected]ks.

the main thing u want to do is cut the rust out and weld in new metal if the rust is bad enough. u can also treat the metal with a bucnh of antirust stuff, a bodyshop freak would know the specifics that i dont.

im not so sure that your chassis stiffening idea will turn out well. u can just bolt random pieces of metal to random places and not expect your cars handling to remain the same. if u dont do it right, it may actually weaken your chassis (ie. if u bolt the bar onto a part of sheetmetal that isnt too strong and the bar just ends up tearing up the sheetmetal)
