Default can you swim in Miami beach on winter

stupid question but I was wondering how's the water in South Florida, Miami specifically during our winter?

I'm thinking of going there early/mid February, don't really want to go to Mexico or Caribbean and I wan't to explore Florida/Miami.

Can we still swim on the beach on that month?

I'd say so based on this chart.

This link says the water ranges from 50-60f. I would say that would be okay to swim in

The locals will look at you like you're nuts, but it's swimmable for us.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

my god... thats like Alberta lake temperature may long weekend... fuuuck that shit haha

    case and point...

A water temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) often leads to death in one hour, and water temperatures hovering at freezing can lead to death in as little as 15 minutes.[31] Water at a temperature of 26 °C (79 °F) will, after prolonged exposure, lead to hypothermia.[32]

You can spot the canadians in florida - a mile away...

Shorts and swimsuits, playing in the water... Meanwhile the locals are dressed up like they belong in Calgary/Fargo... Winter coats, hats, mitts and the works... It's pretty amusing... At least that was my experience about a decade back when we visited over xmas...

^ haha that's what I keep reading on, basically you can tell if you are a tourist when you are swimming in florida water in winter.

hmm.. maybe we'll just go to mexico then and save florida for summer next year.

We were in Miami over Christmas last year and saw people at night wearing fairly thick jackets, saw some with a scarf, and even saw chicks wearing those fuzzy earmuffs LOL we were in shorts the whole time

I was there last november, and I swear it was colder there than it was in Calgary. The wind from the ocean is lethal. Even locals were like WTF
