well obviously, its new and its got alot more technology in it.
Bear in mind that the bike being purchased has a budgetary constraint of $5K. There is no way you will get an F4 or the superior F4i for that.
OF COURSE the F4i is waayyy better thats for sure. But for 5K the F3 is just fine, and a great bike in its own respect for street riding.
Just like an R6 is waaayyy better than the old FZR400 & FZ600. Yet I would love to find another FZ. Great value, and getting quite scarce. Ditto nice F3's.
Anybody with a credit rating can sign on the dotted line for an F4i. Not everybody wants to make monthly payments on a five figure loan.
Ya im not looking to go race anyone lol Just to have some cheap fun this summer.
Anything is better than the $550 insurance payment I was making on the civic.
Then if you want a fast nimble sportbike that is every bit as much fun as ANY bike - and there are others on this forum who will agree - find a good little 400 cc sportbike like an FZR400R or CBR400RR, (or CB1 or Bandit if you cal live without a fairing) and save just piles of cash on your insurance.
In BC, my FZR400 was $267 a year, with collision but no theft (Guarded by mean fucking dog)
My 888 (now 984cc) Ducati SPO is about $1500 a year, same coverage.
And dont even get me started on the costs to operate spread.
If you have already bought the F3, good on ya. Let us know the price, overall condition, and kilometers. How was it maintained? Forks drained & refilled every 2 years? Oil changes regularily? Ever dropped? Rad flush frequency? Tire condition?
I havent bought the bike yet, but he is holding for me I believe.
I just started a new job and need some cash soon.
But im getting it for a reasonable price I think.
Ill post a pic of it. He works at a bike dealership and apparently everything mechanical is perfect.
How much?
Looks good, and if it has been well kept, that bike will serve you well.
ducati, those 400cc are pretty damn rare and the owners know that so they're gonna jack up the asking prices hehe
Listen fam, she had a big rack of lamb
And they caused mad problems like math exams
Ask my man, her tits caused traffic jams
That may be true in many instances. I paid $3200 in 2000 for a fifteen year old FZR400 with 25000 km on it, a gray market import from Japan.
An acquaintance in the group of guys I ride with bought a 1988 CBR400 for $4500.
The beauty of those bikes is that they bristle with technology that was advanced for the time, as the 400 sportbike class was a hotly contested market in Japan. They are Dirt Cheap to insure in BC - I dont know about elsewhere, though.
Often, because they are usually owned by knowledgeable enthusiasts, they are in good shape.
Another type of small bike that I enjoy are the single cylinder models. Riding a thumper is an experience unto its own.
Dont overlook classic old stuff. My brother in law has a 1976 Morini 350 Sport, and it is without a doubt the sweetest small bike I have ever seen, both to ride and to look at. Reliable, too.
The best deals on 400 sporty bikes are the old Yamaha RD400, RD350 and RZ350. They are a lot of fun, and don't have most of the detractions common to the more high-strung sport 2strokes.

check the bargain finder too.. i bought my bike 2 years ago.. it was an 89 ZX6, only had 15,000 km on it.. 3000 bucks.. still runs awesome now.
That Kaw 600 is a good pick for a starter bike for reasonable cash. I have never driven one, though, but I am told that they are a very competent and well balanced midsized sportbike that is a bit down on power compared to stuff from the last six or so years.
Kawasaki's seem to have a well deserved reputation for having bulletproof motors.
what 600,,you arent talking about mine are you,? ZX-7r and yea,, strong motor, awesome mid powerOriginally posted by Ducati

I believe that if all oil changes have been done as sheduled, and if the bike has never been pounded with a cold motor, that sounds like a fair deal for a good bike.
