hey plumbers, in my dads rental we partially developed the basement with a full bath. we havent been able to figure out why the toilet will barely flush, it just seems there is very little pressure. any ideas?

Is it a old toilet or new one? Water pressure has nothing to do with it. If its a new toilet then when you were putting it on you could of missed the wax seal and its blocking the outlet. If its a old toilet its probably plugged up, run a toilet auger a few times.

do you have the pipe vented to the atmosphere or is it a closed system?

well its a new toliet, run off of the existing rough in. i believe there is an air release because one of the pipes it hooks up to goes straight up, not sure if it goes all the way to the ceiling or where it goes though...

I had a similar issue, are you getting any bubbeling from the toilet? For us, if we ran the water long enough it would start to go back through the bathtub. In our case, the backflow valve was stuck. Listed one of those platic cover things on the floor and found where the valve was, pried it lose and has been fine since. Ours was also a rough in, but since it was never used it seems like the backflow valve got some pipe cement on it, and simply got stuck. Haven't had any issues since. I would look into that.
