Default Tile for Garage? Make garage bigger?

It's currently an unheated garage, I think it's around 200-210 inches in length I can't quite remember. Was thinking about knocking down a wall and extending it a further 2 or 3 feet.

Also, I'm wondering about tiling and if that's a good option for the floor instead of just painted cement. What's a good tile to use if I go in that direction?

The house is upscale and planning to be sold in the next couple of years, want to make sure that you could fit pretty much any vehicle you want in the garage in case the buyer needs it.

If you are planning on selling the house... I wouldn't do anything to the structure of the garage. It would probably cost you far more to reno than you would get back in the sale.

If anything, just insulate, drywall, paint (walls and floor) and add some good light fixtures.

I am with sputnik on this, his advise is good here. Fire a PM over to JordanLotoski and see what he says. His advice would be the best as he knows what will get you a return (or faster sale) and what is simply wasted money and time.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

It won't cost much to do the reno, I do all the work myself/ with family so the cost is just materials, which we have an abundance of.

I think originally the garage may have been bigger and then a pantry of sorts beside the garage was extended, not too sure though.

The walls have all been painted except for the one which I'm thinking about knocking down.

I'll send a pm tomorrow, good call.

My brother in law has a new house with an attached garage so small that their Saturn SUV (maybe 2007) hardly fits in it. He has to let everyone out of the vehicle before backing it in the garage, real PITA. A garage too small for a "normal" Calgary vehicle is really a negative in the eyes of a buyer. If you do the home/garage alterations now, you get to enjoy them until the future sale.

    Post pics before/after.

Does the tile hold up to vehicles? Or is this particular tile created for the purpose of having cars/trucks on it?

Just like any regular new-car showroom, or shopping mall...that's all tile. It's just regular porcelain tile.

I would think if your planning on selling it down the road I would focus on heat and making it look aesthetically pleasing. I personally would avoid a finished floor because I work in my garage and im sure I would wreck it some how. Also I have always wondered how a finished garage floor whether tiled or whatever would stand up to the varying temps? My garage can be 20 degrees in the winter time(minus 30 outside) but the floor stays freezing cold.

As long as you put in a porcelain that's rated "frostproof" (which most are) then you won't have a problem with a freezing issue. I park a 6,000 lb suburban on mine. During the winter months it's completely covered with snow, slush, gravel and mud. Springtime I hose it out with a pressure washer and it looks as good as new. Even oil and fluid spills come off like a charm. No scratches or rubber marks at all.

Have you ever dropped anything on it?
Hammer, etc? Wonder how it will hold up to average abuse?
Can't find any local epoxies that are actually white. I hate beige.

Oh yeah. You'd have to purposely give it a couple of good hard smacks with a hammer in order to break the tile. Just dropping it wouldn't do anything.

Of that particular porcelain....? Ohhh, about $12,000...installed.

But you could find a cheaper porcelain for roughly $8-$10/sq ft, installed.
