Premium Text Messaging - How is this Sh1t Legal?

My wife fell victim to this. She started getting these annoying text messages asking really stupid questions and even though she didn't reply to any of the texts she was being charged for every incoming text. What a scam!

I called Rogers and they explained how to opt out of these "premium text messages" but we had no idea this was going on until we saw our monthly bill +$100 later... Doh!

Oh well, live and learn.

Damn scammers! I have no idea how this kind of stuff is even legal.

Her number would of been put into a Premium service manually via internet or texting.

Contact CRTC
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/contact.htm , tell them what happened.

Then ask your Carrier to take off the charges since its the first time this has happened. If they say no , then just say you have talked to CRTC and reported this ... 99 percent of times they will knock it off. Also ask who is providing the service and the contact number.
