Internet quality and service with both providors is pretty much a luck of the draw, bother companies diehards can argue about who is better till the cows come home.

telus business is a far cry from their residential service. haha fuck, i shouldnt even be using the words telus and service in the same sentence.Originally posted by FastDak318

btw, do u have telus business or just enhanced dsl? cuz all telus does is jack ppl with the enhanced 2.5Mbps advertised bs. everyone ive talked to says that u only get around 2.0 Mbps on it.
dont even get me started on their phone service. Why would you trust a company with your internet service, when they'll charge someone $100 plus just for their first month of a home phone line? Telus is all about cutting corners and capitalizing on cute advertising campaigns and customer misinformation, along with cheap gimmicks to suck you in. (firewall, antivirus, and new spam control come to mind) Telus is a bastard company, they only make money off of their business phone service, and when Shaw smacks them in the mouth with VoIP, they gonna go down hard.

When did Telus ADSL reaches Hamptons? 6 months ago, it's still too far from the switch for the service.Originally posted by BMPnRIDE
I live in the hamptons and I have never had a problem with ADSL
Anyhow, I'll never go ADSL because:
A) Never will be as far as cable unless you're one of the few lucky ones that lives within 1Km of the hub.
B) Shaw is more tolorent on abuse (high traffic) than Telus
C) To get an IP, you have to provide MAC address. Not exactly plug and play.
D) It's #$@$%$#% Telus.
BTW, for all you Telus users, good luck on Feb 3rd when workers go on strike/lock out. All your services will be managed by the stupid managers.
hahahaha

i was one of the first shaw cable customers in calgary and i used it for a few years when shaw was still working out a lot of bugs and monthly outages were common. when i moved to edmonton, i switched to telus hoping for a better experience. instead, what i found was that i had switched to a company that took over 7 weeks to install my service due to repeated bunglings by incompetent csrs and techs. i ordered dsl service in mid august and i didnt get online until october. wtf. and the simps had the nerve to tell me that i wasnt hooking something up right and that it would cost $40 + $18 for every 15 minutes that the tech spent at my place. after i finally got dsl, i discovered that it went down about once a week for hours at a time, i found that the residential dsl was slower than cable, i found that telus customer service doesnt do call-backs (shaw does), and they just basically told me to fuck off. ive switched back to shaw, and for the last 6 months i havent experienced a single outage, consistent 550Kbps speeds, and it took shaw less than a week to hook me up.
is this a sales pitch? nope, these are my personal experiences with both companies.
why do u care, troll?Originally posted by SinisterProbeGt

I find customer service at BOTH telus and shaw to be poor though shaw is a lot better (I miss CADVision's more or less instant response!!!!!).
I have used Shaw before I switched to CADVision (was on their one of their business account - 7 static addresses with no cap on transfers). I had friends who were also on telus business accounts paying more then me getting slower transfer rates and a cap on transfers. When telus tookover CADVision, they said to me they were going to reduce my bandwidth, put a cap on transfers, and reduce me from 7 to 5 static addresses for $500 MORE then what I was already paying with CADVision.
Needless to say I went to shaw. I do get bad packet loss (despite my levels being in the acceptabe range..), my pings to the gateway jump from 40ms to 400ms all the time but I do not deal with the BS that telus told me.
I decided to co-locate my server at that point instead of hosting it myself. It was cheaper, however i have to deal with poor connectionsOriginally posted by Khyron
Um why didn't you move to Nucleus? Pretty much the same deal as Cadvision - and I should know.
