F1 engines due to their rotational speed tend to use relatively late ignition and valve timing, when this is taken into account its gives you a better picture of why you can run pump fuel in F1 engines.
Also the lower the octane, the greater the power potential from the fuel, if F1 engines were to use 100, or 110, I would assume that they would use a far greater amount of fuel to power the cars, and meet the distance requirements.
Haha, yeah that was pretty much a Shell advertisement.
Alonso actually says in the video top speed is better with pump fuel, where the difference lies is in acceleration.
I heard somewhere that F1 rules require that the fuel used must be 98% the same as pump gas.
You could say that again. Booze just kept flowing. We walked home (tried to plow at that elgin monument hill park thing) haha...too cold, but that explains the night.

In chemical composition. Most of the stuff that they tweak in F1 fuels is to improve specific gravity, lubrication, etc.Originally posted by davesparky6

you have to also remember in italy the lowest octane pump gas is 95 or as they call it senza pb. i had great confusion pumping gas for the first time crossing in from france when we were there in march. their supersenza i think is 103 octane.
edit" the video at 0:03 shows him pumping senza pb v power which has an octane rating of 98.
