Does anyone know who keeps calling from this number.
They call every day. Today I answered it and it was very weird so I hung up.

Yeah thanks Cos, I googled it and saw that but to tell you the truth the timing has me a bit scared because she talked about activity on my computer and Telus just sent me an email the day after I t@rr*nt*d the last ufc saying someone requested my information saying I was sharing their copyrighted material.
This lady kept insisting I go to my computer while she was talking to me. She knew my name and asked if I was the main computer user in the house. She wanted me to do something on the computer. I said I don't know how to use computers, I just surf the net. She said OK I will walk you through this. Just press that windows key and R at the same time.
I then said this is a bad time for me. To my surprise she said "sorry to bother you" then we hung up.
That's fucking bizarre ....
According to my call display I've been called by this number twice in the last couple of days. The link Cos provided really tells you everything you need to know. They want you to run something and connect to their virus infected website or some other bit of nonsense.
Probably know your name/phone number from the do not call list or some other marketing list. I know when I added my self to the do not call list list my unwanted calls went from once or twice a week to 3 or 4 a day.
I don't even answer the phone (let the answering machine pickup), any more if I don't recognize the number on CD. If they are persistent, well they go into my call block list.

Anyone get calls on their cell phone that just show up as 4051
^^^ Thanks. Thats the kind of info I was after. There is some recovery and preventative info on there. I didn't actually do anything on the computer while she had me on the phone but I think I will still change all the passwords and such.
I think the 12345... no. is just something used to hide their real no. because in Cos' link you can see people have complained of unlimited different types of spam from the same no.
Those guys tell you to basically go into your Event Viewer and explain to you how all those errors are bad and they can show you to fix it.Originally posted by big A

If you say yes you go to a website that you download a program which allows them remote access to your machine and at this point your system has been compromised and I basically tell people at this point I'd do a format/reinstall to make sure nothing is left in your system.
Yeah the number if spoofed, which is easy to do.
This is all over the Linux forums, they call and ask you to allow them access through Remote Desktop and they install some software which installs all kinds of spyware and shit. We're laughing it up on the Linux forums at how confused they get when trying to ask us to click on the Start button and we say we don't have one. One guy went as far to install Windows on a virtual box and let them do whatever they wanted. Another guy got into a fight over control of the mouse pointer.

Jesus man, I know you like Transformers, but you need to get out more. No one should get this upset over a movie based on children's toys.
