Default Japanese noodle houses in Calgary?

Hey beyond, I just did a quick search in the forum to see if there had been any threads about Japanese noodle houses her in calgary, the only one that came up was muku.

Does anybody know any other authentic Japanese noodle houses here in Calgary, the most delicious one i've tried still is the one in banff.

    Let me know!

You haven't been to many places to try RAMEN then...

Shikiji on Centre St. N has got to be one of the best ones in town.

    Next up, head to Vancouver.

Which reminds me of Ippudo in NY..

+1 for shikiji. Muku on 14th is pretty decent and cheap too. It's where the old globe fish used to be and is next to the current globe fish.

How does Soba Ten fit into this? Last time I was there, I enjoyed it immensely.

for chili goma, that's my favourite.

Too bad we don't have a noodle shop like Kintaro here.
I want to go to Van now.

IMO The place in Banff is a bit better than Muku's, it's worth the drive!

Ramen is tough.... When I tried Muku, I found that it was way too salty and the char siu... Sucked. I haven't had Shikiji in ages but I was quite turned off by the corn starch thickened mess that was the curry soup noodles.

Oddly, one of the better bowls of ramen I had in Calgary was the kim chi ramen from Shibuya Izakaya. So I guess that tells you the state of ramen in Calgary. Another oddity: if it's value you crave, go to Tea Pot. They serve Tonkatsu ramen and it's actually OK considering it's made by a bunch of Chinese people (and only because Chinese people are experts at deep frying things).
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

I am +1 for shikiji too, and -1 for muku.. i donno, i just dont like that place, or the ramen.

Also a new place i discovered is hibiki. Just on edmonton trail. Ramen = SOO GOOD. I'd say its comparable to banff ramen good.

Shikiji's Bento Boxes are the best in Calgary as well.

I prefer Muku for ramen though.

This is true but Muku isn't bad, and it's relatively cheap too. I believe Shikiji is more expensive than Muku.

The Ippudo in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon in the Sun Arcade mall is pretty clean, well staffed. Because being in TST most service ppl in the area speak decent to high school level English, IMO. In fact was at the McDonald’s on Peking road (TST, Kowloon) wanted a breakfast bacon sandwich meal. Spoke as best as I could but got tongue tied saying bacon in Cantonese, then the Asian version of Amy Schumer faced, with that bored/fml Napoleon dynamite attitude college aged cashier spoke in perfect English. “Sir, you’d like a meal number 3 correct?”

Refusing to give up. Kept ordering rest of my order with Cantonese to show some local respect. But she just kept speaking English to me “ok that’ll be $120 (hkd) please, oh octopus debit card please tap here it’s ready for you, please wait on the left”

Anyway. Made sure I said Gung hey fat Choy and asked for ketchup and hot sauce in canto before leaving. She just rolled her eyes at me.

But yeah I think I like Ippudo as a chain. Gonna make it on the list next time in SFO.
