Probably about time ,its 7 years old, and only power competitive with medium sized lawn tractors.

Too loud for Aspen
It's too bad because I really liked the RX8. Although it's not the fastest car power-wise I think it had a lot of potential. Brakes are sufficient, overall balance and suspension is great. You could also easily fit large wheels/tires under factory fenders. The rear seats were also surprisingly comfortable for a sports car.
I was planning to buy one as my next car if I move back to Canada.
Lol I was just thinking about this a couple days ago and was like boy that car has been out foreverrrrrr, now taken out of it's misery. Hopefully then can come up with something more exciting soon to make up for it's death, especially with the brz and ft86 on the horizon now.Originally posted by Maxt

Well you won't have any problems getting into one when you come back as they have a resale value that would embaress even Kia.Originally posted by PremiumRSX

I hate these cars, I can't believe that they have continued to make them year after year with the exact same body style.
UN REAL
Buy em cheap, resale is terrible.
There was talk of an RX9 replacement, but I heard afterwards that it was deemed untrue. Who knows.
Shame for Mazda to spend all that time and money refining the rotary just to give up on it....

I had one and loved it right up until the time the engine died in montana
However, to everyone who says its really slow, I would agree except for the fact it somehow made it around the TG track in the EXACT same time as the E46 M3 and 350Z.

I can't blame them actually. With the ever stringent emissions and fuel economy regulations the rotary engine has become less practical than it was in the 80's and 90's. Mazda really only sells a lot of one car in the Mazda 3 so they really need to focus on building a better midsize car rather than waste their resources on a rotary engine.Originally posted by Kloubek

Maybe now that production has ended, resale values will not take as much of a hit. Maybe it will even rebound like the way AE86s have in the past 5-10 years, even for poor examples AE86s.
Straight line speed isnt everything. Ive had one around race city a few years back and was about a a second quicker than me in a G35, even tho in a drag race the G35 would walk away. Both cars stock and both cars on very similar tires, if i remember right the G35 does about 15km faster down the front straight too.Originally posted by jonni44

Dude, your hate on for the rotary is incredible! I mean good on ya for sticking with it this long, it usually makes me smile a little, but man its like a rotary motor was responsible for a hard childhood.Originally posted by heavyD

There's no point to getting a RX-8 when you could get an RX-7.Originally posted by cloud7

I can't believe the RX-8 limped on for so long... what a joke.

HeavyD's 'love' for Mazda as a brand is pretty well documented on this website.

The RX-8 would have been a monster with a i6 Turbo in it! Sad to see that the development of something different be taken off the shelf, but it makes financial sense.
I still want to see more turbo vehicles, and less FWD enter the marketplace. Fingers crossed, Mazda will step up! /mazdafanboy
Beyond's Most Wanted
These cars will soon be collector's items now that they will be the last rotary Mazda will ever produce.
I would expect them to hold their value, just like the FD3S did when it ceased production here in North America. I liked the look of the car but the whole revival of old technology for their motor never caught on to me.
Although the rotary was an iconic part of automobile history, its been long past its time to retire it.
RX8 a collector's item? I would have to strongly disagree.
