He sounds like Dirty Harry in the game.
The game world reminds me a lot of Ghost in the Shell (AWESOME!), the gameplay is like a really good shooter combined with solid stealth tactics. Its open ended so you can solve most problems the way you want to. The story seems like it'll be pretty wicked too.
Graphics are kinda hit and miss. The environments look great, but the people look pretty freaky IMO.
I know, but the whole time I was watching the trailer (which doesn't seem to be working in my post), all I could think of was Neo, lol.Originally posted by b_t

Reminds me I have to play the first two games. The ex gf was a huge fan.
I will have to try this, have been busy playing tropico 4.

this is a prequel to the first Deus Ex, so you don't need to play that one but you would notice some kinda callbacks (or call forwards?) that connect the games a bit. The 2nd deus ex, invisible war, really sucked... give it a missOriginally posted by n1zm0
one of the few OG PC titles i never got into, should i be playing the first one before wanting to try this?
got awesome reviews all over i'm noticing
DEUS EX, the original --- anyone who hasn't played it, do yourselves a favour and play it. Consider that any newer games that have similar elements probably learned their tricks from Deus Ex.

This new game Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an f'ing prequel... hopefully it's good, but since it's a prequel "we already know how it's going to end." So that kind of sucks for the story aspect of it. Ion Storm was ahead of it's back then --- i actually played it on Mac.
I think I've found the game to fill in some spare time! Well, until BF3 comes out!
Luckily it's on steam and I don't even have to leave the house. Hurray for being a lazy ass!

As to the game... I still have to finish Deus Ex 1 o_O
Dunno about you guys, but there's too much movement to balance anything over here.
Plus Beyond can wait........![]()
Based on the recommendation here and quick reviews, I decided to buy it on Steam. Played it for a couple hours and already one thing drives me absolutely nuts - hiding. The action seems extremely easy, right click and hold when you want to hid. But the system is very buggy and quick often will release out of hiding and somehow put me in the wide open only to get shot at.
Perhaps a patch will fix this, or my mouse dislikes only this particular game. Either way, it's fun but too unpredictable to enjoy as much as I could be.

I haven't experienced the same issue.Originally posted by msommers

me neither. The cover system is rock solid. I'm trying to get used to right mouse = cover instead of right mouse = look down sights of gun
one thing I haven't figured out how to do is dive between bits of cover... I coulda sworn one of the tutorials showed the guy doing it, but I can't figure out how to actually do it.
When you are at the edge of your cover holding space will cause you to round the corner, staying in cover on the adjacent side of whatever you are covering against. Pressing space and letting go (like you are jumping in an FPS) will cause you to dive to whatever piece of cover is beside you on relation to where you are.Originally posted by b_t

not sure if PC has the same settings as console but why not set it to toggle instead of hold?Originally posted by msommers

^^^One day after release and a relatively awesome patch fixing what pretty much everyone was griping about (the load times).Deus Ex: Human Revolution Update Released
Product Update - Valve
12:46
This latest patch addresses:
A frequent issue for AMD/ATI hardware users that can cause the game to crash on startup.
Improvements to loading speed. The speed increase depends on machine spec and settings, but loading time improvements of over 50% have been measured on some machines.
Some control fixes:
Diagonal movement is no longer faster as intended.
Adjustments have been made to mouse sensitivity in response to user feedback.
Mouse sensitivity for X and Y axis can still be configured separately, but is now consistent when set to default settings.
The range of settings for mouse sensitivity has been adjusted to provide for more accurate adjusting.
The default mouse sensitivity has been altered to be somewhat less sensitive.![]()
Also, as to the cover system, I have mine set to toggle, works a charm. I still get my ass handed to me sometimes though
EDIT: Also... side missions. Goddamned side missions XD I've done the initial factory mission and that's it so far, I haven't even snuck into gansta-land to take out the antenna, and I'm 6 hours in XD

good god i was wondering about the load times. the whole time I was sitting there like "I have a fucking SSD. I haven't had a load screen over 5 seconds long ever. WHAT IS THIS SHIT"
in other news.. I find this game kinda ugly. The environments look awesome but the character models? not quite Oblivion bad, but the guys in the original Gears of Wars look better and that game is five years old
