Mr. WroughtIron in Inglewood. $1500-$2000 per door depends on design.
1. Andes Security
2. ADT pad, motion sensors, doors, windows
3. Built in with the house
4. $20
5. Works well. Security company easy to deal with.
Overall good peace of mind, lady tells you to deactivate alarm the moment you walk in or the phone rings within 1 minute lol but I still love my steel door, no way in hell unless you are the fire department gonna get in haha

What does the touchscreen get you that the regular keypad doesn't?Originally posted by Sugarphreak
^^ I like that door... where did you get it from?
1. Honeywell
2. Touch Screen, sensors of all kinds
3. 0$ (Did it myself)
4. 14$ (huge discount for having an existing system)
5. Works flawlessly, no false alarms in 2 years, love the touch screen, however initially the programming was a bit of a pain in the ass.

Cool, thanks for the reply. I will have to look at upgrading one of my key pads.
What would you guys suggest to be the best way to secure a detached garage?
Just from costco, doesn't tie in but can e-mail you when it detects motion and does have an audible alarm when motion detected, plus brings the picture into full screen.Originally posted by ALBERTA_IS
I like your set up. Where did you get everything? How easy is it to set up? Is it tied to a security system as well ( motion, glass break etc ).
Thanks
It does have triggers which can be tied in, I do not have that.
The setup is easy, all the cables cameras and dvr come with the unit and u can set it up all through a GUI and a web browser.
I went through this last year, and met with a bunch of alarm companies. I went with ADT as the other companies came in with really crappy sales guys trying to do a full sales pitch about the risks and dangers of home invasions. I explained that I called them for an alarm, so I obviously saw the value in the system.....but they insisted on going through the entire sales binder which was annoying.
The ADT rep was the better sales rep, and that is how I based my decision.
I've got a 2300 sq ft home. No walkout basement
I ended up with:
1. ADT
2. Motion sensors on main floor and basement (wireless in the basement). Door sensors, glass break, 2 control pads and fire/carbon monoxide. Water sensor in the basement
3. I negotiated and didn't pay anything for installation or equipment, but I had to sign a 5 year contract. I had to pay $100 for the water sensor in the basement as they wouldn't toss it in.
4. $40 per month, but got the first 3 months free.
5. So far I'm happy, but I've never had to call them and the alarm hasn't been triggered yet. I'm sure all of these companies are the same.
My system isn't fancy. I can't turn it off/on from my computer or phone, but I didn't want that.
I just wanted a reliable system that would do the basics.
I'm not worried about it at all. I keep the Picassos and the Monets hidden in the basement, and nobody knows they're here.Originally posted by urban.one
So who watches the house when you're out of the house with the dog especially if someones been scoping out your neighborhood and knows your movement?
Realistically, if a bunch of crooks are sophisticated enough that they're "scoping out the neighborhood", then no home grade security system is going to deter them.
(I don't believe that alarm company security systems are really worth it btw)

Just wondering what it takes to get to the stage where you're putting wrought iron doors over your entry doors and CCTV systems around the house? Not trolling but just wondering and interested in what motivates that level of security? We live in a very safe place here after all.
Mr. Madison, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Alarm Force
1 motion, 2 sensors, keypad, wireless system
Don't have landline, goes to my cell phone, 30/ mo
For me it was the geek factor, always wanted to see my house from anywhere in the world, and just looks sweet really. For me it keeps like 2 weeks worth of feeds so I can go back and see if anyone scopes out my house ahead of time ect, and automatically backs up to my server, which syncs with my parent's house over the internet, so even if they stole the system itself, i would still have the videosOriginally posted by GREENBOY

Anyone have experience with Front Line Security?
Thanks guys for all your suggestions, after research I found a serious problem associate with the regular home security systems.
Most of the home security systems are wired to the home phone line but I found it is very easy to locate and cut the phone line from outside of the house resulting total failure of the communication between the security company, home owner and the police station. I've called one of the security company and confirmed this issue, they told me to purchase a cellphone back up device to walk around this problem but the the device itself would cost $200 and not mentioning the monthly fee would go up by 50%!
In my opinion, the regular home security system is only good for fire and flooding, if someone really wants to check out ur bedroom all they need to do is cut the phone line from outside.
I'm still a noob to home security systems so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks again!

when the line is cut, doesn't that trigger the alarm back at the central station?

I was told, when the line is cut all the communication will be terminated so I assume the central station will no longer receive any signal unless you have the backup wireless transmitter installed.Originally posted by ExtraSlow

Mine goes off if you try to cut the connection. I am surprised (or would be surprised) others do not.
The alarm itself may goes off inside the house but the central station won't be noticed because the wired is now cut in half, right? Even the alarm rings inside the house, with all windows and doors being closed it is very hard for your neighbor (if someone at home) to be notified.Originally posted by Kloubek
