Apparently Rogers (and therefore Fido) and TELUS were down. Things appeared to come up around 8pm in my area (Country Hills).

I wouldn't gamble with a DP on one of these.
I am on Rogers, the guy next to me in the NE (at the Shaw building) was texting and talking on his Telus phone. I was shut down, used Skype on my iPhone. Another guy was using his BB, worked fine and good for him, as he stopped using his laptop (60 days ago) to use only a BB for all business transaction, email, etc. He uses this new BB as computer dozens of times a day. If his BB went down, he is out of work.Originally posted by 1barA4

Just shows, one needs to have a back up plan for situations like this, as they will happen yearly.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Interesting that his TELUS phone worked. My buddy who lives in Coventry said his TELUS cell phone was down.Originally posted by kamakurakid

Might all have been the worst kind of service disruption, the intermittent type. I know I was able to text once in the blackout period, my bars were at four one minutes and gone the next. Yet BB guy was chatting up a storm...Originally posted by 1barA4

I can confirm that TELUS services were not down this morning.

My iPad on Bell was working fine yesterday during the Rogers outage. Only way I could keep in touch with work stuff. Since Telus shares the same network with Bell, I'm assuming Telus wasn't affected yesterday and it was purely a Rogers issue.
The outage was interesting, like most ppl said, data was working, SMS and calls weren't. By around 6pm though, I think Rogers was rebooting everything, because I was getting No Service for about 20 mins.

It was a def. Rogers issue as I was able to call non-Rogers numbers using my Rogers phone but was unable to receive calls and sometimes, 3G internet was spotty.
Oh wells. Life goes on.
Yeah, it was Rogers.
Telus was fine, my WIND was fine etc.
I heard that this was a hacker attack on the rogers network.
Anyone hear the same thing?
sorry I should have clarified.Originally posted by rage2

The outage did not affect TELUS at all, yesterday, today or at all this week.
If it did, I would have been working...

I highly doubt it, unless it was internal sabotage or something. While I suppose it would be technically possible with the right set of circumstances, I don't think it happened.Originally posted by Toma

Chances are it was a buggy upgrade that went in overnight if I was going to place bets on it.

Is this happening again? I am on Fido and unable to send texts or receive calls. I tried calling myself and the phone quickly rings for just a second and then hangs itself up.
I'm on Fido and haven't had a single issue all week, or even before that. Full service, texts & calls come though. I've even tried calling myself from my work phone occasionally and it works fine. Should be the same network as Rogers, I think?
I'm on Rogers and having the same problems on 2G.
About 1 in 5 text messages goes through and voice calls cut out all the time.
