He guys,
So all yesterday and all today I can't get any satelite signal downtown.
My coworker commutes in from out of town and he said it cuts out as he enters calgary.
Any info on this? Will be calling their support line soon enough...

Sirius was on and off for me too in past 2 days.
It was working fine in my car ~ 2 mins ago.
Their terrestrial repeater must be down in Calgary. Usually takes them 1/2 a week to fix.
Basically, Sirius has a repeater on some weird frequency that broadcasts throughout Calgary, so that in areas such as downtown, under bridges, valleys where the sat signal is blocked, you don't lose audio. That goes down a few times a year, and when it does, you only get satellite reception, so shit breaks when you're downtown or any other fringe sat reception areas.
My old Sirius receiver gives me both Sat and Ter signal strengths, so I could easily confirm. New ones don't have that anymore.

It actually has signal strength for both terr and sat.
I called in, and the dumbass biotch I spoke to said there was no communication about a repeater outage, and also said there has been no other calls about it.
Thanks for the info. No Jason Ellis, =(
No smartphone? Sirius has an official app for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. There's also an unofficial one for WP7.Originally posted by Boat

Terrestrial Repeater is back up! Edit: nvm it was a tease edit2: back up
Mine is working as well. in DT
For the last couple days mine was all f'ed up but it seems to be fine now except for when I drive under the Center Street Bridge. It always worked before now it cuts out?
Hmm mine has never cut out these last couple of days. It's fine when I'm driving and I also bring my radio in the office and listen to it all day and it's been working fine

My office is 20 floors. I'm pretty much in the middle. I get 0 satelite and depend on the terrestrial repeater for when im in the office.
I'm downtown on the 29th floor and just checked the radio's signal indicator... satellite is completely empty and terrestrial is at full bar. I'm by a window though.Originally posted by Boat

I think the confusion is from the XM/Sirius merger. The 2 systems have unique satellites and repeaters even though they share the same channels.

They don't have all the same channels. I can't get Opie & Anthony/Ron & Fez in my work truck because they're on channel 206 on Sirius and my shitdick radio doesn't go that high.
I know there are some other differences but I don't know what they are.

Are they ever going to improve the audio quality? I've had everything from Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, OEM systems in my cars and have never been happy with the audio quality.
