Just seeing where you guys have purchased your tow hitches and furthermore, if any of you have ever purchased one from ebay.
I'm looking to pull a boat at sometime and want to make sure this thing will not fall apart!

You can do either OEM Trailer Hitch but more expensive.
Or you can do the specialty shops like
Custom Truck Parts
Raven Truck Accessories
Truck Outfitters

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

What is it for?

If you want a weight distributing hitch (which I would recommend for anything over 1000 kg weight) Standens sell them.
Also not yet mentioned is Raven Truck accessories.
What are you pulling, and what are you pulling with? Do you need a brake controller too?
As it stands, I'm not pulling anything yet, but the truck in question in a Honda Ridgeline.Originally posted by 250and3

Now I know that many people would opt for something a bit better, but I'm sold on the truck and I would be pulling a wakeboarding boat.
I've been looking around the ridgeline forum and from what I've seen many guys are using this to pull trailers, boats and everything in between so I'm confident that it'll get the job done.
Hey, little necro-bump to see if anyone has new opinions. I know there are a few dozen shops in town that sell this kind of thing, so opinions matter.
My situation is I have a truck with the receiver already, but I sold my old WD hitch with my old trailer, and need a new WD hitch for the new trailer.
I'm tempted to go with the el-cheapo Princess Auto version, LINK
I'm of the opinion that I don't require or want sway control, just a simple WD hitch rated for tongue weights of 800-1000 lbs.
Could always go the Kijiji route too, there's one on there that looks suitable.
Other question, how big of a pain in the ass are these to install on the trailer? I'm not the most patient guy. Maybe I'm better off just getting the whole thing at Standens and they can double check the alignment while they are at it.
Thoughts?

I am using a Reese Straitline WD hitch with Dual-Cam sway control right now. It was a little tough to get set-up properly but once it was done, the thing is great.
I would always recommend having some sort of sway control regardless of how well set up your trailer is. better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I'm looking to upgrade my trunnion bars from the 800lb bars to the 1400lb bars so if you are interested, maybe we can work something out.
installation is also a breeze. just need a few basic tools and a tape measure.

hitchdepotusa.com they had a good price, free shipping, and it shipped from within Canada so no brokerage (at least mine did). they are a curt hitch dealer.
Weird, I don't know if that website is awful, or if I'm just a poor user, but I can't find any weight distributing hitches on that site, and I know Curt makes some.

Did a little phoning around today to get an idea of what prices in town where like, and then some surfing tonight.
Ordered a Curt 1000lb WD hitch from hitchweb. Free shipping, ships from Canada, and found a coupon code for a free ball too. we'll see how fast the shipping is.
SOAB, after some research, those 800lbs bars would be just a touch light for me if I was carrying cargo in the truck bed.

Extra, I'm running Heavy Duty Round Bar WD Hitch w/#54970, with Dual Cam HP Sway Control. 800lb bars. Once I did the levelling I have it so the front of the trailer is a half inch lower than the back when I'm loaded down, and just about dead level with no cargo in truck. I found the secret to cargo loading was put the heavy stuff at the front of the box, then there's very little tail drop.
Oh, I also bought most of my stuff from www.hitchexperts.ca I found the owner there really easy to deal with. Price matched on my Undercover Flex, as well as gave me a smoking deal on trade in's for my bars. I went from 600lb to 800lb for $20 diff.
My cams I ordered off Amazon.ca from a place out east that was blowing them out for super cheap. Couldn't beat the price as it was just under half of what everyone locally was doing.
Nice, I will probably be giving hitch experts a call about some new trunnion bars for my set-up.
