iOS 5.0 tips/tricks/problems

The problem still is it doesn't keep blinking until you check your message like the berries. It'll only blink for a few seconds after receiving your message, then it won't again. So if the phone was in your pocket you wouldn't see the LED flash, then if you didn't feel the vibration nor heard the tone, once you take it out of your pocket there's no way in telling you had received anything without actually checking.

LEDs take barely anything from the battery.

That's a feature I definitely miss, but even with the blackberries, the blinking would stop eventually. I think maybe it was an hour? It was a long period of time, maybe 30 mins.

But if this LED flash even went for that long, it's something I'd definitely try.

Here's a question maybe someone knows the answer to: my notification center for the calendar is set to show 5 events, but whenever I pull down the notification center, it's only showing 1. Anyone else experience that, or know what the cause is?

The way I figure it is as follows:

IOS was coded so the Notification was for 1 day, multiple events.

In other words if you have 5 events in 1 day they will show, 20 events over 20 days, only 1 will show a day.

That's what I was thinking too, which is a real shame, because I think they missed a chance to make something pretty useful. Same idea with the lockscreen. Missed opportunity.

Also, I used to have asterisks in front of playlists that I wanted on top of my list of playlists but the iPhone seems to bypass that and just organizes it in alphabetical order.

Cool thing I found with ios5 is you can break the key board in half and type with both thumbs when holding up an ipad........duno how useful it would be for most people but its a cool idea i stumbled accross when playing with it

I can't seem to access/setup visual voicemail on my 4S. Can anyone give me instructions? When I go to the phone button and it brings up favorites/recents/contacts/keypad/voicemail and I press the voicemail button it just dials my voicemail.

^ are you paying for visual voicemail with cell plan? When I wasn't I didn't have that feature either.

Yes. I have a Telus iphone plan and i,s supposed to have visual voicemail. I called Telus yesterday and they confirm I am supposed to have it but we pretty useless in trying to help me get it to work.

Fucking iTunes.

I go to update the son's phone to iOS 5.0 It does the complete wipe, but when it goes to restore, iTunes gives me a
"The iPhone update software server could not be contacted" error message.

WTF?? The phone is sitting there with just a USB plug and itunes icon picture. I've done a hard restart on the phone, as well as rebooted the computer. Same error whenever I plug in the phone to the computer.

Any ideas?

Near the end of this video, or the start when the guy is running, SIRI is reading out the texts.

How do I make my phone do that? I think it can be very handy in the car while connected to the bluetooth. And to reply you just say reply and message. That'd be wicked.

Oh really? I guess I didn't pay attention. How about near the end of the video? The message pops up and just speaks it on it's own.

So when you get a message, are you supposed to hold down the home button and say 'read me the message' to get the phone to read it to you?

the lady at the end of the video is BLIND, she's reading braille. Most likely has some accessibility settings for her circumstance.

So you've got a hard on for an iPhone 4s, but don't know what the features are, or how to use them, don't pay attention to the vids you post and haven't watched the SIRI demo?
