Default This is the last thing responsible 4WD'ers need...

Check out this video guys. These "Calgary Mud Freaks" are proud to show that they tear anything up. Have no regard for trail systems, and careless use of our back country. These stupid antics will lead to closures that will affect responsible 4WD owners and users!

To view, you have to sign up.

But yes, have those people who have to ruin it for others.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.

Nothing but rednecks being rednecks. Tearing up land and riparian areas using their work vehicles. The sad thing is that a local business sponsors these retards.

I emailed the landscaping company asking them if they found this video to be an effective form of advertisement and that they will without a doubt lose a lot of business from this video.

If someone has firefox and downloadhelper installed they should make a copy of this video incase they take it down for some reason. I would but am stuck at work at the moment.

To be honest, the rutted terrain these guys were driving through did not appear to be the result of just what they were doing - those ruts were there long before these guys showed up to play around and at no point in this video did these guys go off and tear up virgin terrain, they only were goofing around where others had obviously gone before. Now what they are doing is not something you'll ever catch me doing because it's just not my thing, but one needs to really watch this video and realize that they're not up on Nose Hill doing hill climbs where no one else has gone before.

Never the less, I also realize that there are off-roaders who do openly disregard the environment and who will think nothing of tearing up untouched areas, but this video did not ever show this being done - all of the areas they were playing around in appeared to have been established long before they made this video.
    Will fuck off, again.

Who cares if there is already damage to the trail. Does that mean you need to be constantly spinning your tires and damaging it more? A bunch of holes on the trail already; lets make more, one or two more isn't going to hurt anything right? There is probably a few pieces of trash out in Mclean right now, why not just toss the empty beer can out of the truck or leave the parts that fall off, no need to police your brass either. Its only one more piece right?

99% of the people involved in the CJA, CT4WD, other real clubs and many on here will take all possible steps to reduce their impact on the environment. Airing down tires to reduce wheel spin and further damage to the ground, removing garbage from the trail, staying on the legally defined trail and taking bypasses if going the normal route is less beneficial to the trail, just to name a few.

Disregard for the environment is not just ripping into virgin ground.

mud bogging and what have you has definitely taken place in these areas before, but it doesn't mean it should continue. I've been guilty of spinning tires like a fiend in the past but like everyone else I think most of us have realized that we need to take care of the trails and even work to improve the already trashed ones so that SRD doesn't take away what little amount of trails we have.

Was just responding to OP's first post and who's to say that some of the people involved in the club that produced this video aren't already out there with other clubs cleaning up. I can't assume from one video "that they tear anything up. and have no regard for trail systems." Yeah, the video maybe isn't the best representation they could've asked for, but it certainly shouldn't be used to make some the assumptions people have made about what they may or may not be doing. That'd be akin do assuming every BMW driver is a douche because of some poorly made video posted up on some insignificant enthusiast web site and yet I know many BMW drivers that aren't douchey.

The problems I see in the video is they are off-trail in protected muskeg areas, they are drinking and driving, and they are not practicing any kind of safe techniques for recovery.

In general makes the whole off-road community look bad and this is the kind of stuff that gets those recreational areas shut down.
Didn't see any signs regarding protected muskeg areas, but then again maybe there are rules/laws somewhere regarding off-road use in the Waiparous area where this video was shot that many of us are not aware of. But you do make some great points I can agree with regarding their actions and what probably is happening out in Waiparous that will affect it's future access.
