Wait, are you saying there are ROM sets that are named properly for the Hyperspin XML files? I just spent the last week renaming all 800 Nintendo games one by one and was wondering if I would have to do the other 20 consoles. Is that what you mean?

I have to be honest, I don't know what Daphne is. I grew up kind of poor so I played Mortal Kombat in the arcade maybe.....once. And Buster Bros maybe 100 times (LOVE that game). That's the extent of my Arcade experience so I have no idea about spinoff machines or games that weren't released on home consoles.

Correct. There are various standards when it comes to the naming format of roms. Sets from 2011 labeled "No Intro" have both the exact number of games as well as matching names to the HyperSpin XML files. You don't want to know how many files you will end up having to rename, if you were to download and install everything you will have two totally full 3TB drives.

These are daphne games, in the early 80's there were games that used laserdiscs and looked like cartoons. Almost all of them work 100% on the "Daphne" emulator. They are a lot of fun to play.

Also, make sure you have HyperSpin upgraded to the latest version and you're using HyperLaunch for scripted launching of games. When HyperSpin 2.0 comes out this will make the upgrade much easier as it will be well worth it.

I'd also recommend not downloading all of the movies from emumovies yet, there is a problem with some movies in the current set that causes HyperSpin to freeze. They have changed movie formats for HyperSpin 2.0 which you will want to get for sure when it comes out soon.

So there are like 8000 or so MAME roms.

How many of them are actually playable? How many are worth playing?

Tictactoe, how many MAME roms do you actually have on your system?

If I only want to add the MAME games I want to play, do I need to edit the XML file so that it only list the games I want it to?

I'm about to list it on Kijiji for $2,000, or $1,850 for beyond.ca members.

That includes the quad core, 6gb ram, wifi PC. For legal reasons I can't include any roms, but I'd be more than happy to point anyone in the right direction.

With the amount of time it took to build, it's a steal at that price.

As per the current HyperSpin Mame XML file, there are 10,635 roms.

    http://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/

I would say 90%+ of them are playable, but they include a lot of duplicates from different regions, revisions of games that have no noticable difference, japanese games, mahjong games and casino games. I'd probably estimate somewhere between 3,000 and 4,500 actual original games if you remove all those.

When HyperSpin 2.0 comes out you'll be able to remove games from the XML file while you are actually in HyperSpin. This will make things much easier because you'll be able to see the videos from the games so you know what you're removing.

I believe there is someone on the HyperSpin board that's actually compiling a list like that right now.

Hypothetically speaking if it weren't a gray area I'd have all of them on my cab, just like my video shows.

The MAME games are not on that list but I already have all of them from another source and they're all named correctly and working.

Yeah the mame stuff should always be named properly. Just make sure you have the correct version of mame, it has to match the version of the roms or else not all games will work.

You'll also want to get what's called the "No nag, High score enabled" version of mame. This gets rid of the anoying startup messages and also saves your high scores when you exit the game.

Okay so last night I spent another few minutes at this and:
    - confirmed my Playstation 2 emulator is working great, managed to load up Silent Hill 3 no problem.
    - Loaded all the games for Game Gear, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Nintendo64, Commodore and all Atari. All the Sega work great on Fusion but M.E.S.S. for some reason won't play the Commodore / Atari games. It keeps telling me the console ROM is missing. Also the Project64 is version 1.6 which isn't supported in Hyperspin so I need to get 1.7 which requires payment.......or alternate methods.

Not much left to do now, should be in a good spot by the end of the weekend.

MESS requires bios roms for whatever system you're trying to play, do you have those?

And you are correct about P64.

I paid the 9$ for the access to hotfile. Mar, I won't need to grab the n64, SNES, NES, and all the other ROMS listed on that website.

I will need to grab the MAME froms from you though, and all the flash videos for the individual games.

Tictac, any ETA on Hyperspin 2.0?

So, once I get all the ROMS together, I should be able to go through hyperspin and figure out which ROMS I don't want and can just remove them in the specific emulator XML file from the hyperspin directory correct?

You got working emulators too? I'm about to go work on Project 64 and see what's up with that.

No confirmed date, all I know is it should be soon.

The reason I suggest not getting the movies right now is the format is changing between now and HS2.0. The movies will have higher audio and video quality and be smaller in size, but the main thing is the couple videos that currently lock up HS won't anymore in the new format.

It's not just the movies either, you need the wheel art, box art, themes, and I think i'm forgetting one off the top of my head. I'm just in the middle of a big computer upgrade, motherboard, cpu, ram, video card so I had to re-install windows and haven't re-installed my storage drive yet. Once I get it back online I can give you some more details.

If you two know each other, you should each do a couple systems instead of trying to do everything on your own. It's a huge job on it's own if you want it to look as good as it can. If you don't care about the art and themes and movies and having all the roms then I guess it would be quicker, but for all the systems you guys are talking about it's at least 15-20 hours of work if you're fast. I've easily got over 100 hours in mine.

I got all the art in the proper folders from the Hyperspin FTP, I'm a gold member over there. Plus I got all the MP4 videos from EmuMovies for when the switch happens so I got everything in the proper folders already and it all works. I just can't get the wheel art to display for some reason, haven't looked at it yet.

And I got almost all the systems done, taking care of N64 right now.
