If you can get fined for shit being in the wrong bin then maybe they should be lockable.

Shocking that the City is hiring more staff to patrol and ticket for bin misuse. LOL. Where the hell does it all end?

Snow is compostable so fill that green bin with the excess snow.
Well, I took your advice and shoveled some snow into my green cart. It really doesn't hold that much, but at least this way I have a flatter cleared spot to park my carts for collection! Put a couple bags of kitchen scraps on top, so hopefully I don't get a visit from the trash cops.

Now I want to set a trap so the bin is half full of snow with a spring board on the bottom. When the lid is open... *POOOOOFF* facefull of snow.

Green cart emptied without incident. I think this might be a useful life hack a few more times this year.

Cold day or warm day? I mean.. Getting hit with frozen ice ball could be considered assault.. but a face full of powder would be funny.

For 2 cycles of green cart (4 weeks?) they haven't emptied it. No tag, but it was sitting on top of some snow, off the curb. The recycling bin next to it was emptied without issue. Guess I'm shoveling a spot and pouring all the snow in.

I ended up dumping it into my garbage bin, so it would just get taken care of.

Was the compost bags frozen to the bottom of the bin? I've had that issue before.

Depending on the driver, they won't empty the cart if it's sitting on top of snow. Recycling bin is a separate driver, so YMMV.

The city plows are being total dicks to me. My house has a bus stop, and they plowed down where the bus stops so that people can get on/off the bus without being blocked by 2 ft of snow. In the process they flatted all the plowed snow onto the sidewalk and flattened it down to a inch of ice by driving over it. I've given up, that spot is staying packed ice till the fucking summer.

City employees fucking suck. I swear Nenshi is trolling me haha.

Wasn't frozen to the bottom, and yeah, probably a driver that refuses to pick it up off snow, although it shows it was moved forward/back. I'll fill it up with snow next round.

    Fuck this city.

With the amount of snow we got the last week, there was no way to not have the bins sit on snow banks, have enough room for neighbors bins, or not block the road. I'm not allowed to shovel the snow pile onto the road, so my only option was to have enough space to pack the bins beside each other. Something's gotta fucking give. I guess the shit's sitting in the middle of the road to comply with this fucking city's bullshit demands.
lol for the time to attach the notice, they could have picked it up lmao

Always nice to know, that for all the extra money we are paying for these city programs, that the cities incompetence means next to nothing is actually recycled. Just more virtue signalling by the city.

    http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...ics-raises-ire

The city is spending about $300,000 a year to stockpile clamshell plastic packaging collected by its blue cart program, leading one member of council to wonder if the material should be buried or burned.
Even council is throwing useless city employees under the bus for this one.

Wonder if we will find out the same thing about the green cart program in a few years.

Heads up that the city is changing pickup dates across the city. Our days got swapped, hope you don't miss out and get fucked haha. Download the garbage app, enter your address and confirm your dates people!

With that said, this whole COVID WFH is really stressing the shit out of our garbage with pickup every 2 weeks. After getting our last kid off diapers we were finally caught up with a little room to spare. Now, the garbage is overflowing weekly, and that's with zero visitors to the house. Even recycling bins are full weekly now because of deliveries and packaging.

Green bin is like 5% full every 2 weeks being home non stop lol.

We're lucky: our collection dates haven't changed.

My girlfriend works for the CoC (but not in Waste and Recycling Services) so I asked her if I should pick up a second job as a bin truck driver. She said that she heard they're kind of stuck right now because with Covid, they are down some drivers, and they're not able to do any interviewing / hiring / training.

City changed our dates the other day so everyone put garbage bins out yesterday.... nothing was picked up... go back and check the app last night and we've been switched back to next week Thursday. Someone hit the wrong button somewhere.

Also with the City not going back to green bin pickup every week do you guys think we'll get a refund for those pickups not taking place

Is this a typo? Did you mean 95%?
It should be extra full, non?

Maybe they are eating all the perishable food instead of having it go bad in the fridge

I thought of that but simply preparing food still loads it up. Peelings and trimmings etc.
Mine is quite heavy by the time 14 days pass.
