    Fuck this city.
At least you got a notice. The following weeks after Christmas my garbage bin wasn't picked up twice. No notice like the one you got. Called 311, they wouldn't make a special trip and our holiday garbage was just overflowing like crazy at the house. The only reason i could guess they didn't pick it up was the lid was propped open like 4" because it was full.

Anyways, 2 months since Christmas and i just finished getting ride of the last of it this week.

I told 311 that in January they should do garbage every week because it's just fucking logical.

So let me get this straight, the guy got out of his truck, filled out a tag thingy, tied it to your can, and drove off without collecting it when for less effort he could have just slid it over enough to pick it up with his claw thingy? Real good.

^I was wondering about that too. Sounds like someone isn't tipping their sanitation crew enough!

Why can't you just shovel a meter of space to put your carts?

I think some random drives around on garbage day to see if people are complying. It usually isn't the truck driver.

Just because service that we're forced to pay for sucks doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do something about it.

    https://calgaryherald.com/news/local...ays-new-report

I like how the city looks at privatization and says service would get worse. I don't know how that's possible haha. Still hilarious that we all just took it up the ass with the hidden fee hikes.

    1. Bring in new green bin program. Charge more money to cover for new service.
    2. reduce garbage pick up by 1/2 to cover for #1.
    3. reduce green bin pick up by 1/2 to save money.
    4. same level of service before #1. Keep the extra fees. Profit.
Also the city gets to virtue signal about being "greener" while driving up to 3x trucks per week (and each truck twice per street - because they only pick one side of the road at a time).

Used to be one truck, each side of the alley at once. Granted it took two employees per truck and likely more injuries from heavy/unsafe garbage.

Zero plows given for entire winter mean the street is a disaster to attempt to shovel and after about 900sq-ft of driveway and sidewalk, I'm not inclined to shovel more of the city's snow.
    I don't think I'm alone.

Do what someone else suggested, shovel the snow into the green bin.... BOOM! space to now park your green bin.

Our street was a black and blue bin war zone yesterday and today due to pickups and massive snow banks everywhere.

Yep. Apparently they only inspect about 5000 bins annually right now and 10% get tagged but they want to expand that to 200,000 inspections.

I did, as much as possible without heavy machinery. There's nowhere to put the snow so I'm already doing my best to move that snow to make the pile higher between the sidewalk and where I'm putting the bins. I guess I can shovel all the rocks and sand onto my grass but that's fucking retarded. I can't shovel it onto the road because that's illegal. So to comply with not being on a snow bank, and having space beside one another, I literally have to have it sit 1/3 into the road. It might not be a bad idea, normal cars should be able to drive by, but garbage truck? Too wide to get through, will be forced to pick the fucking thing up.

No, he's on my camera. Fucker did exactly as Maxx Mazda said haha. Probably the same asshole that refused to empty my recycling last year because I had Styrofoam in there. That case, ok my bad, I had no idea that we have a very specific list for recycling. That's me being wrong because the city can't follow proper recycling and makes us memorize of what's allowed and what's not instead of recycling everything that's labelled as recyclable. Fucking asshole design like everything else done by our dumbass city fuckers.

Snow is compostable so fill that green bin with the excess snow. Hell get your neighbours in on it. If the City is charging me for bi-weekly pick ups I am sure as hell am puting it out. And it will be full of something.

Don’t even get me fucken started on this! I live in the new part of Panorama, and we have a super wide back alley in addition to all the houses having a front garage. Everyone has to put their cans out front. Why the fuck the city can’t puck everyone garbage up in the alley is beyond me. It’s ljterally a “drive through” alley with TONS of room, versus a tight cul de sac where the shitty truck needs to back up 15 times to get everyone’s cans.

Ever since Herald bought Sun, all article turns that way.

I guess only old seniors are the only one still subscribed to the Herald and they are preaching to the choir.
