    Default Stampede Toyota $1 sale??

Hopefully it's ok that I post this here.

    http://www.stampedetoyota.com/used-c...ale-event-.htm

I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this kind of sale? I just received the email and considering I am in the market for a new car, I was hoping someone had some feedback.

I remember them doing this a year or two back as well. Is it really worth the hype?

    Cheers

Isn't it like you have to wait around the entire day for a single used car that's an entire piece of shit that barely is worth $100?

    I figured as much.

I certainly didn't expect a car for a buck or even a couple of thousand....but I was wondering how much they reduce their good used cars for....if any.

I love how the ad says:
Due to the volume of sales during this event, please no telephone inquiries.
and then right underneath in giant highlighted font is a phone number for inquiries.

Went to this...SUCH A SCAM. They have $200 cars priced at stupid amounts like $5000...then they drop them every hour until someone wants to buy it at that price. The cars they had last year were late 80's or early 90's rusted POS's that were even nasty looking on the inside(the did not detail)

    Holy fuck that's genius.

Sucks if you're looking to buy a car though I guess.

I would stay away during this sale for sure. I happened to stop by since I was in the area waiting for someone last year and they had a Porsche the dealer said was mint/clean title and the whole body alignment was off with noticeable gap differences around the car. There was multiple "highend" vehicles like this that they were pawning off lol.

If you feel like gambing on crappy cars, may as well go to the Auction. I suggest going to Regal on the coldest, windiest day of the year. By the end of that sale, there will be about ten people left, so you won't have a ton of bidding competition.

Any car that is in comparable condition to the beaters that stampede is selling for $1, will be unreserved.

Regal, and most auctions, sells a couple thousand unreserved cars a year.

I read the online flyer and didn't see anything about an auction? So I am a little confused as to what you guys are talking about.

I wouldn't mind picking up a winter beater truck so I can haul around snowboards and whatnot, but the way you guys make this out to be its that the vehicles they are selling for $1 are POS that probably won't even run. If I am up I may go over and check it out though.

Do you really expect them to spend $150+ charged by the service department to detail a $1 car?

From the ad, there are just 6 POS cars that will go as low as $1.00

    Scaaam.

Good luck to those looking for a car though.

So we went yesterday, not to do the $1 deal but we decided on a vehicle that we looked at last week.

Unfortunately someone put a deposit on the vehicle we were ready to buy. It would have been fine if the insurance company had my cheque ready when they said they would.

Anyway....the car we were looking at was $22,388 last week and then when we went to look at it yesterday they marked it up to $26,800 only to mark it down $500 every hour. All of the cars were marked up by a couple of grand only to be marked down to the price they originally were. So no deals at all!

We still did the paperwork incase financing falls through, but now I feel like an idiot because I could have walked away and if financing did fall through on the other people I may have had more bargaining power.

Now that is bullshit. So there was no sale at all. Bigger scam than I thought.
