    Default bird feeders

    So question...

Been trying to keep the little birds around, so we've put up a bunch (4 - 3 seed one suet) feeders around the house...

Problem is - man the birds can eat... And make a mess...

I tried the past few days to keep them from running dry - that 5kg bag disappeared in less than a week... That's not going to work for me, if I go with the shitty canadian tire type seed - they go through even more (mostly by tossing it onto the lawn - which then attracts the mice (which we don't want)).

So how do you sustainably keep the birds visiting, without burning through 20lbs of seed a week?

You could try putting out a set amount each morning. The birds will remember your house, and will visit daily.

Also, any chance the squirrels are eating it? Could help to have a "squirrel buster" type feeder.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Squirrels mostly ignore us; the neighbor feeds them peanuts 2 in the back are squirrel proof, one in the front - haven't seen one there yet, like I said - squirrel feeder next door...

Magpies and crows are a different matter...

Feeding daily? That's no fun... I want to fill it up saturday mornings and call it good
