Default LF - Data Recovery on older PC's

    Morning all,

My wife and I have some older PC's that no longer work. We have no idea what is wrong with them (nor do we care) but they do have some digital photos of vacations etc... that we would like to recover.

Is anyone able to have a look and see if it is possible to recover the photos?

Please PM me details and hourly rate.

    With many thanks.

    Aaron

If you have basic computer knowledge you could remove the hard drives and buy a hard drive dock from memory express and access them that way and drag the files off. Would be much cheaper than taking them somewhere.

depending on how old the PC is it may use an old IDE interface for the hard drive.
If you post up what the computer is (make/model) we can let you know what dock/adapter you would need.

MemEx has a USB drive adapter that does IDE, SATA and 40pin, very handy and around $20 iirc.

If you plug the drive to the computer and it doesn't recognize it your SOL and it will require data recovery services.

If the computer does recognize it I usually give it a 50/50 chance of working.

The Nexstar above is what I use in my shop and works great tho can be a bit slow sometimes to initialize the drive.
