Car Starts Then Dies Repeatedly

so heres the scoop got my winter beater and its shown to be more of a beater then thought lol
got in my car started it up and went to back up and it died, took a second to start it again and then drove about a block n half then it died again and wouldnt fire up for quite some time so i gave up and towed it home, when it does fire up no matter what it dies, ive tried full throttle, half throttle and just allowing too idle.
its getting fuel, i can hear the fuel pump and checked the fuel rail for pressue all seems fine,
im leaning towards either ECU or ignition control module, but im also told it could partially be cause by plugged cat
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before i tear random crap out for no reason

also car is a 1990 Z24 3.1 liter with approx 242k

I'd go with ICM as well on those. Luckily it's a V6 (it's a PAIN to reach in the 4 cylinder models)

Kind of pain on this one too, not so easy to access between fan, but thanks for info that's def what I'm trying first then

Problem fixed was ignition control module was a pain in the ass but worked out fine

Those damn ignitors....so sensitive on the chevs
