What do you pay for snow removal?

Looking to compare a quote to what others are paying. Quote was $153/month for a two car driveway and sidewalk in front of the house in the SW.

Just hire a kid for $10-$15 everytime it snows. Should be a lot cheaper.

That's a little steep. We're $200/month for a bobcat @ our office...

Actually sounds pretty average. Prices seem to range from $100-$225 depending on the company.

Do they come out every single time it snows or only after a certain amount of snowfall?

I am assuming it is every time it snows but I would have to confirm with them.

I've decided that the next house we build will have a heated driveway and path so I don't have to shovel.

We were lucky and bought on the side of the street that doesn't have a sidewalk so avoided some work at least.

I'm just asking because with some companies they have a "trigger" amount and residential is usually 2", meaning, unless it snows that amount or more, they don't come.

Ill come and shovel your walk for $149 a month and since you will be my only customer I will be there almost right away.

Holy shit that is an expensive alternative to buying a $45.00 shovel and 15 minutes of your time.

There was a groupy buy deal (through TeamBuy) for Calgary yesterday and the day before for winter snow removal for the whole winter (for Calgary). Only $50/winter...but it was limited to 350 vouchers, and I didn't get in on time. LOL

$200/month, corner lot, driveway, walkways.

They come out if there's any snow that sticks, within 24 hours of snowfall. If it snows everyday, they're out everyday. If there's no snow, still pay.

I have a feeling there are going to be about 350 disappointed people come about middle of January when the company realizes they are now losing money for the rest of the season.

No doubt.

I went with several different "cheap" companies over the years. I've had companies disappear mid season, missed shovelling, just brutal. Last year, I paid up front for a contract with yet another small firm, no show first snow day. Called them, said they were having problems. By the 4th day, I had about 2ft of snow everywhere. No answer at all, and finally they emailed back saying their guys quit.

After receiving complaints from the city in the mail for having snow on my sidewalk a week later, went with a reputable company, cost me big $ to clear that first snow.

Not worth the savings going to smaller snow removal companies.

Then the bobcat company you're using must be pretty desperate to work for that type of rate considering all the liability issues involved. We charge about $6000-8000 per condo complex and that only includes a maximum of 6 clears.

If I were you then I'd get some reviews on different business' before choosing one. Many of the guys out there do piss poor jobs clearing, show up late afternoon or a day late after the entire dump leaving packed down snow everywhere from days of walking.

Didn't someone on here buy a little bobcat/snow remover just for his driveway and sidewalk? It looked awesome but kinda overkill. I just assumed it was rage2. :P

I shovel my own snow and skip going to the gym!
