    Default Indian Grand Prix 2011

Interesting preview... some team members are arriving at the track and seeing construction all over the place. Stuff that gets TV exposure is done, but looks crappy up close, and behind the scenes stuff is incomplete.

    Unpaved service road:

    Close up of concrete work:

Not many ppl have arrived yet. Plus, F1 drivers aren't allowed to talk shit about F1.

5live f1 tweeted that there are no windows in the commentary box lol. Pretty funny if you've seen outsourced, the movie.

Will be a interesting race for sure! "no windows in the commentary box" that would be classed as air conditioning in India

For those who haven't seen, a fucking dog got on the track and Senna hit it.

Hamilton and Perez got 3 place grid penalties for ignoring yellow flags.

    I'm excited to see qualifying.

Senna didn't hit the dog this time, but did a couple of years ago when he was in GP2.

Ignoring yellow flags could be very serious. Hamilton and Perez are lucky that they only got 3 place grid penalties. If memory serves me right, Jacques Villeneuve was actually DQ'd because he ignored yellow flags in during Japanese GP in 97... but I think he did it two laps in a roll... and of course he was fighting with Schumi in a Ferrari in the championship at the time, so naturally he was DQ'd.

The yellow flag situation was pretty messed up. The track lights, as well as steering wheel lights went to green. 1 marshall was still waving them, even though the track was green. That was why it was "ignored" by both Hamilton and Perez. It was an inexperienced flag worker that caused all the confusion. Hamilton says he was engaging DRS at the time, so he didn't even see the 1 track marshall waving the yellow flag.

The penalty was imposed because even if there was a discrepency between the lights and flag workers, you should still assume the worse and slow down.

If you've ever been to India, cows roaming the streets isn't the biggest surprise. It's the # of stray dogs that are EVERYWHERE.

More clarifications on the "yellow flag" penalties for Perez and Hamilton:

Hamilton says he was working the DRS and didn't even see the marshall waving the yellow flags. Went to the stewards office, says give me whatever penalty, I don't care, and they gave him (and unfortunately Perez) a 3 grid spot penalty lol.

I guess he has been there so many times that it just doesn't matter to him what he gets.

My worst memory of India was riding on my cousins bike when we hit a cow that walked in front of us. Back on topic, stray dogs in India doesn't surprise me, there's like two for each person :P
