Well, evacuations within a few square blocks. Going down right now, ambulances, cops, firetrucks and media on the scene. Manhole covers were getting blown off. Fun times.

methane gas fills the low lying areas like in these access holes and storm drains. That's why city workers need those big ass pipe blowing fresh air down when ever they have to work under the streets.

I'm in close proximity. The fire chief came by. They checked the house for leaks. Advised of a voluntary evacuation due to an explosion in the sewer!

Arbour lake is actually a pretty old area. 95% of it was built before the boom. My house was one of the last areas to be built, and that was in 1999.

I had friends living in Arbour Lake in the early 90's.

we're not talking about whitehorn here. ive always liked arbour lake, i think its a really nice area. however, i grew up in forest lawn, so whitehorn is beautiful to me.

According to Brian Mcasey of the Calgary Fire Department, the explosion was caused by a product in the sanitation sewer.
