I wonder how many more stores will outlaw their employees from saying it under threat of termination.

I know Home Depot does, Future Shop apparently does as well.

I was trying to remember the last time I ever encountered anyone who was ever offended when I said 'Merry Christmas'.

I can't remember the last time it ever happened.

I'm pretty sure anyone who says they find Christmas offensive still enjoys their day(s) off from work with pay.

Fucking hypocrites.... if they don't celebrate it, they shouldn't get it off. See how many people are offended by it after they're told they have to work that day, regular pay.

i think the point is not that people are complaining about the use of the word christmas, but that christians are complaining that people are offended by it.

I let someone off a ticket last year, like 3 days before Christmas... I said, "slow down, and have a Merry Christmas"...

They complained... quite frustrating. Should have written the ingrate the damn ticket.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

When I worked at AMA they had everyone remove anything to do with festive season/christmas.

We werent allowed to say merry christmas, or even seasons greetings.

Its not only about money. Its about freedom, friends and family too.

Christmas is not a religious holiday.

No one I know treats it as such. It is simply the most popular holiday, A time to relax, spend time with family, and give presents.

I'm the most atheist person I know, and I still love Christmas.

100% agreed. I'm a big athiest as well, but I love Christmas and have never associated it with religion... It's just a day filled with presents, Christmas trees and lights, and tasty turkey. Anyone who's offended by Christmas is a pretty shitty excuse for a Canadian.

My old boss from a few years back is a Jew, yet we decorated his retail store with a big christmas tree and ornaments/decorations and I must have said merry christmas to him 5 times and every time he would just look at me with a look of 75% shamefulness and 25% embarassment.

I walked into a conversation about this today.

What's troubling is the christian alarmists who think people are taking "Christ" out of "Christmas" keep blaming the wrong people. Hint: It isn't the 'coloured people of other faiths'.

I have muslim neighbours and they love Christmas. A muslim guy I know sings Christmas Carols. A Punjab I've met celebrates it and decorates his place of business. Though these are immediate people I know, it is consistent anecdotally - it isn't the people of other faiths opposed to Christmas.

The discussion then progressed to tracing the root of all this anti Christmas hoopla, and it was decided that it's those white neoliberals being offended on behalf of non believers of Christ because.... well you know, being white neoliberals, they know better.
