Default How far are these venues from their respective airports?

Going to go see Jay and Kanye in concert but not sure where yet. I'm looking to do it cheap so I'll fly down and back the same day, just want to keep the price of the cab fare down. How fare are these places from the airport and are they cheaply accessible by some sort of mass transit?

Going to have to change your name from Marth to Marps

I can answer for Toyota Centre in Houston though. It would be like 30-45 minutes, it is in the downtown.

The cost of the flights and accommodations will far outweigh the cost of the cab from the airport.

Sit down and grind through some Expedia and you'll have yourself a pretty good idea.

Google maps fo sho, check it out... I've been to five of those places and my choice would be Chicago or San Jose. O'hare to the United Center is 45mins on the blue line train, direct from the airport to downtown it'll cost ya $2.50. You can find a (nice) hotel near the airport for under $150 or downtown for $200+ depending on timing of your trip, and much cheaper if you Priceline or Hotwire. Chicago knows how to throw down

San Jose is alright and the HP Pavillion is quite literally just down the street from the airport. Dallas or Houston tends to throw decent parties too, not sure on the logistics though. Vegas is Vegas, prolly a $20 cab ride each way from McCarran. I personally wouldn't do LA, don't like the traffic, prices and people there at all.

Well, I stand corrected on the economics then.

However, I will take this opportunity to call you cheap. A free flight and you are worried about the cost of the cab?

As for helpful advice, I'd look for the smallest venue.

Looking at venue location and a date that doesn't interfere with snowboarding, I think it'll be the Vegas show, pending availability of tickets. I won't need a room though, I'll just fly back after the show is over. Or hit up a casino and fly back early morning.

Casino? Are you gonna have any money left after you take the train?

    Bazinga!
Never been to a casino, have no idea what prices are. Might be worth $100 to say I was there.

Chicago is tomorrow night, going to miss that.
Los Angeles only has seated tickets left, I want floor.
Las Vegas seems to be sold out, weird.
San Jose looks like the place to go but for some reason I can't fly into San Jose directly, the closest I can get is San Francisco which is 30 minutes away. Google Maps says transit is 90 minutes which isn't too bad, is there any reason I wouldn't want to be using transit/walking in these areas of San Jose late at night?

    - Metro Rail for 6 minutes
    - transfer to Millraie Calltrain for 36 minutes (10 stops)
    - Walk 1.5 miles from California Ave Calltrain to HP Pavilian Centre (30 minutes)

Any idea how late transit runs? Concert starts 7:30pm.

My only delivery option for my ticket was International Will Call. Does anyone know if that means I pick them up at Ticketmaster here or if I get them at the venue?

Will Call means at the venue. There should be signage near the box office. At bigger shows, they have a separate "international" window but it's pretty rare. I would avoid flying into SFO before noon, as there's often fog delays in the mornings.

Google Maps says it can be over 2hrs on transit depending on the route you take, and the "fast" route doesn't run past 10:30pm, or 9pm Sundays. You can take the long way around the bay for nearly 3hrs, which might be an option depending on your flight, since it appears to run all night. Either way, leave yourself plenty of time for transit delays and missed connections. The bay is pretty tame but the drunks and crazies come out at night, so keep your wits about you. The HP Pavilion website has some transit/parking info as does www.bart.gov and www.caltrain.com

It really depends on the flights but I'd probably spend the night in San Jose, or rent a car and use Google Maps historical traffic data to avoid rush hour Rentals at SFO are pretty steep but if you get something offsite, you could do 12hrs for under $50 rent/insure/gas.

Edit: Consider flight time and cost too. YYC/SFO direct in 3hrs is gonna cost you $1100+, while you can get to San Jose thru LAX or Seattle for $700-800 in 5-6hrs. Either way, you won't be heading home until 6am the next day as there's no red-eyes to Calgary.
