Default Car chugs while in boost

For the life of me I can't figure this one out. Car in question is a 1987 Mazda 626 Turbo. Great car, love it. Runs like a champ, smooth idle.

Now when I put my foot into it and get the car into boost, it starts to chug. Almost like it does when it is running out of gas. This only happens when in boost so I'm guessing something to do with the turbo. A new turbo was put in back in 2007.

The car also squeels when its cold out, but that I have deemed to be just a glazed serpentine belt (car sat for awhile before being ran again). Not sure if that would be the problem when in boost too...

Any ideas? I love cars, but when it comes to motors, aside from the basics, I'm pretty clueless lol.

VAF, fuel pump, clogged fuel filter are things that come to mind. The F2Ts are good motors, I miss my MX6.

First off, great choice of cars! A buddy of mine had one and I really liked it, he cranked the boost and it was quite a fun little sleeper.

I would agree with above, do you happen to have an O2 gauge you could hook up and see what your afr is doing when you hit boost? Only other thing I can think of is spark blow out if you have old or improperly gapped plugs.

When I was first getting into cars I bought an expensive set of plugs and the bozo behind the parts counter said that the plugs were the type you aren't supposed to gap, being very niave at the time I believed him. threw them in and barely made it to work the next day, as soon as the turbo spooled at all it would cut out.

    Chugging on boost.

Have you refreshed the ignition components?
New dist cap and rotor, new plug wires, new spark plugs?

Possible boost leak. Try to retighten all your intake hoses. (cheapest fix/check).

I would doubt the fuel being an issue unless cooked rice has lots of Mazada experience and it's a typical problem with Mazdas.

OP was this a sudden occurrance, or has it been getting worse over time?

Usually sudden events are electrical, while trends tend to me mechanical/pneumatic.
