Help with microphone

I'm trying to set up my microphone for use on my MSN messenger. I plugged it into my computer. the mic into the mic port, the speakers into the speaker port, and my headset into a third port. When I talk into my microphone the sound comes out of my speakers. Is it my soundcard? my soundcard drivers?

I have that problem too. Except my mic will not work with MSN messenger or this internet phone program for long distance calling. However, I can record my voice and playback. And, Word will recognize my voice.



Any help would be great.

I have same problem, it works when not talking on msn, but soon as i do it, they cant hear me...oh well

could be if you are behind a firewall or are using a router

Lots of the voice programs use ports that are blocked by software or hardware firewalls. I run MSN messanger 6.1 and i had to use port forwarding to send/recieve files and utilize the voice software.
