We have had a red dumpy pickup parked on our street for over 5 years, everything gets renewed every single year, the owners pushed it to it's resting place on the street. By-law won't do anything it's legal.
^^ sucks for the owner though when the plates "fall off" and by-law is called.

Why wouldn't they just call the kidney foundation? Get a jack, raise the drive wheels, and push it to somewhere where it's parked illegally.Originally posted by Kritafo

From the e-mail I received from the Calgary Parking Authority, they told me that basically cars parked on the street are dealt with by complaint from the owner of the property. So my own car can sit in front of my own house forever, however someone else's car. I, as the home owner can call CPA and they will come over and decide if and when they can do something. My car parked too close to my driveway-Stays as long as I want. Neighbours car too close to my driveway- ticketed and towed after I phone and complain.
So the question is, does the OP own the property? If not, I think you're SOL. If you do own the property then you'll need to complain to the CPA first and go from there. I personally like the idea of removing the plate and phoning it in. This seems like the best, less hassel way.

I'm going to find each and every one of your little internet friends!
I now feel like I went into shock. I started breathing heavily and lost my sense of what was going on.
Calgary Parking Authority will tow the car if it is not registered to the house it has been parked at for days. I have had to call to let them know the plates & they did come the same day as well. Might help to say that the tire are flat & it has been sitting there for a few weeks. Good luck!
I hate people who leave their cars parked in front of my house for days. Don't want my neighborhood having abandoned cars left on the street or used to store & park cars for the winter.
I will see if I can dig up the email I have sent several over the years.Originally posted by revelations

So like you've said, CPA won't do shit.
I like the idea of the plate falling off but I feel I could get in more trouble than it's worth.
I do own the property but as far as I can see there's no bylaw they are breaking. This is shitty because like I said its still there.
I'm seriously contemplating letting the air out of a tire though.
It's Rediculous that it's still there.
I talked to my two neighbors beside me and they said it comes and goes but when it comes it stays for a long time. No idea who's it is.

My uncle had a car that was parked in front of his house for awhile (he lives up the block from me). After a couple days I took a look at the car and noticed the locks and ignition were tampered with and the stereo was missing so I called 266-1234 and reported it. It was gone not long after.Originally posted by JustGo
311 is pretty useless. Call 266-1234 and report a suspicious auto... maybe have a look at the door locks of the car, look inside at the ignition, if anything looks tampered with, it's likely stolen.

IMHO, this thread is worthless without pics.

Was your uncle pissed you reported his stolen car?Originally posted by sexualbanana

Why does this need pics? You honestly that stupid you can't picture a car annoyingly parked right in front of your house?Originally posted by Merritt

I'll give it till after Christmas but on the 26th the car will develop a very fast tire leak.
No, but would like to see pics.

So this is a bit of a necro-bump, but I was dealing with this issue today. There is a car that hasn't moved for 12 days or more close to my house. I called CPA at 403-537-7100 (option #2), and discussed with the dispatcher.
She checked to see if the car was stolen (it's not), and that the registration is valid (it is), and that the owner lives nearby (he does).
She offered to send someone to see if it's parked too far from the curb or anything, but I didn't think that was necessary.
Pretty easy phone call. And CPA is the correct call over 311 or the police non-emergency line.
