I second that. Did a bit of that and it was a blast. Would do more if I had the time.Originally posted by Mattloaf
If you want to try Parkour out in Calgary check out No Limits Alternative Fitness just east of Chinook.

If you want to meet some offbeat people, take up disc sports. Ultimate (no longer called ultimate frisbee) is a good team sport, and disc golf can be played solo or in small groups.
There are three public disc golf courses in Calgary, in Forest Lawn, Baker Park and Centenary Park.

Track days with my bike. Draggin my knees never gets old... too bad Race City is such a fucking dive, it makes doing a track day quite an event as I have to go to Bud park Raceway up in DEdmonton.

ultimate is definitely something i've wanted to get in shape enough to do the last couple years. I think I'm almost where I'd like to be to start a sport like that.Originally posted by ExtraSlow

Doing roller hockey this spring with some co-workers, bike lot's (plan on doing way more this year), wanting to get into some cross country running this spring as well.
You'd be surprised how out of shape you can be to play ultimate. I'm in awful shape as far as cardio goes, i can sprint from one end of the field to the other, then I have to walk for like two minutes. if it's end to end action, I get left behind pretty regularly. Lucky for me I'm pretty good at throwing, so I can make a smaller number of decent plays and still be competitive.
As a tip, the Calgary Sport and Social leagues are often more "rec" than the Calgary Ultimate League, so that's a good place to start if you are just learning.
About taking walks, Calgary is a beautiful city to walk in. Roxburough and Elbow park are nice.
There's a great two hour loop in Bowness connecting Baker, Bowness and Bowmont parks, two nice river crossings, a dog park and a cute old neighborhood.
Or anywhere along nose creek. I walked from Renfrew to Huntinton once to kill an afternoon once. Fun to see the different areas of the creek.

Calgary Outdoor club has various sign up as you wish activities where you are not committed for weeks at a time. Soccer, ultimate, ball hockey, ski, bike, hike, vball etc etc. I prefer signing up when I have free time than to sign up for a set schedule.

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
Traditional archery, backcountry hammocking. Not weird but a bit uncommon.
I have a yo-yo.
Thats it. I never been up there yet so for some reason I thought it was "Bud Park".Originally posted by topsecret

I also make home made wine and beer
I am building a guitar from scratch
I tie my own flies for fishing
I collect sports cards and comics
Boosted life tip #329
Girlfriends cost money
Turbos cost money
Both make whining noises
