I test drove a 2010 S4 and it was amazing.

Speed. I'd rock an Ariel Atom or Lotus 2-Eleven everyday if I didn't live in a climate such as Calgary...
Just stay the fuck away from 2.7tt with tiptronic... major problems, expensive fixes. (just ask any Allroad owner )Originally posted by Kloubek
For even cheaper you can get an A6 2.7 or 4.2. I absolutely loved the interior of my 4.2.

Get an AWD, high-end Subaru.

I think luxury and speed are entirely subjective. Fast to me is probably a joke to Rage_2.
You looking to set some land-speed records, or just be able to merge onto deerfoot quickly and safely? Like others have mentioned, acceleration is more important that top speed... at least for city driving. So find something torquey.
Are you looking to be able to have your ass massaged on the way to work in your alcantara seats, or just have something that will get you where you're going in a comfortable manner?
Is budget a factor? What about drivetrain? 4 doors?
Check out a Mazdaspeed 6 if you wanted decent acceleration and appointments at a good price.

True good alternative, your URS4 looks like a perfect mix, but how is maintanence on those older high end cars? Do they break down often?
Been DDing my M3 this winter - blown away by how well it's handled, even sold my civic because of it.
Both, DD my b7 s4.
Another year or two I'll look into a new s4 or s5
About as nice as an interior will get for under $5k:

The BMW's are an absolute tank with winter tires. So good I told people it was dummy proof. They were non believers until they drove it. You couldn't spin out hahaOriginally posted by Jlude
