I think someone would seriously need to try to see if they could get their insurance that high on an Evo 9. Who pays $7-10 grand a year to insure a car that is only worth 30k on a good day.

when i first started driving (legally) at 18 with my first car a 1986 mercury topaz, i was paying 350/month plpd, that was as a new driver, no tickets or anything.

i only paid 450 for that car. you pay what you have to pay for transportation, unfortunately, when youre 19 and you wanna own a car like the Evo, youre gonna get raped, bottom line.

when i was younger my sti was almost $5000/year to insure

evo/sti under 25 pricing sucks, Im pretty sure insurance for a c63/m3 is cheaper.

no DUI. Clean record. my licence was a virgin before i had that car.
From what i understand from every insurance company i talked to these cars are expensive to insurance because
    a)i was young
    b)front mount intercooler
c)broken into having steering wheels stolen, rims, seats, ect...
d)stolen in general for other parts.

I got quoted $3600. 23 with 1 ticket last 5 years. Just no point in that. What is the point of having my own car if my insurance has to be under my mom...

As great as the car is, it is a huge hassle, very expensive, requires a lot of time, and isn't exactly reliable. Even though I had the $, its very hard to justify, so I bought something different.

Good luck finding the right one!

I thought the import process was too costly on the older Evo's (pre-X) to make it worth while? This change or are you guys still having to jump through a lot of hoops and extra cost to get these cars across the border?

recall letter and drl's....the VIII's and IX's are on the admissable list now(and have been for a while)..

Getting a good example will probably cost you more than an X though....(duty and GST are 11.1% on top of purchase price for a start)...

That's why it's just not worth it for me. If it's going to end up costing close to an X I would rather have an X instead. I prefer the looks and interior of the X as well as the addition of S-AYC.

I know. I've imported cars before and that's not holding me back by any means. Bottom line is that if I really wanted an IX I would get one but I don't want one bad enough to pay top dollar. If I was really leaning to getting another EVO I would get another EVO X.

LOL I owned a 2008 EVO X MR and it was flawless. There really aren't many if any mechanical changes over the years only ECU upgrades on the 2010+ models.
