He probably knows that deep down its more car than I can afford. Likely why he will suggest that I look into a gently used Toyota so that I don't ask for any additional discounts on the premium lol.

What's everyone seeing for rate increases in the last few months?
My house went down $200 after a $30k hail claim so that was great. Bill than removed my commute portion which saved me some extra cash. I did lose my multi vehicle discount so I better buy a 3rd car to save some money on my other vehicle premiums lol

Running a larger fleet didnt' save me much money, but then again neither did swapping to a nicer truck. Maybe need to do both, lol.

Touchstone saved my ass today when I was sitting at the soad of the road with an inquisitive constable and out of date pink card. Phoned, and Deanna emailed me the current card in under three minutes, which was fully fast enough for the fine officer to permit me to leave with only my fully deserved speeding ticket.

Touchstone was great for me until they weren't.
Saving ~$3200/yr by switching my entire policy is very significant.
Perhaps my broker wasn't as invested in retaining me as a client by finding the best rates available, who knows.

Always worth shopping around. But at a minimum, I find the service from touchstone to be excellent.

That's always a consideration for me when I'm shopping around, saving money is always good but it's important to have excellent service especially when it comes to claims and policy reviews. I wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks knowing my agent/broker will be in my corner when needed.

I agree. They called before my policy expired (which I thought I had paid) and put a payment through for me while I was driving.

For $3200 a year savings I would definitely switch, but the odd year I do start comparison shopping it's usually only a few hundred for me.

Hooray for my boring life where I don't have 5+ vehicles anymore.

curious for those with touchstone, they are a broker, I pulled a quote because my brother was with intact thru touchstone, however touchstone came back with Pembridge.

    1. If there is a claim do I call touchstone? and they handle all my stuff directly?
    2. What is the review on Pembridge, I did shop for a quote with them in 2018, and yes they will significantly lower than what I pay with TD yet I read some reviews the customer had a harder time working their claims. Not sure if going thru them thru Touchstone makes a world of diff

I'm with touchstone/pembridge. I can't answer the first question, but on the second, last time I talked to Bill he said Pembridge is not quite as nice to deal with as Intact, but they're a close second. He has his own kid on a pembridge policy and said he has no issues recommending them to anyone.

If the event of a claim, you always call the insurer, not the broker. So you would call Pembridge.

I’ve shopped around a little before my renewal at the end of next month, sonnet is easily the cheapest savings will be 1500-2000 a year. But it sounds like if you do have a claim you’ll be in for a very difficult time. Td wasn’t even close to touchstone and intact.

I’ve had mixed review with touchstone, lately it’s been excellent. Would be nice if I get the price back to what I consider reasonable for someone that hasnt had a car claim since 1999 or a ticket for over 15 years.

Yes claims go through the actual insurance company unless something is extremely fucked then your broker can assist you.

Well touchstone quoted me thru Pembridge insurance which I also did myself a couple of years back stating it was the best fit for me. While it is much lower, I did not quite like some of the reviews out there. Then again in fairness all insurance companies are pretty much a sham and I see the same claim issue with all of them. That aside, I decided to call my own insurance TD and re-negotiate. After a couple of adjustment, incentive for 20 year claim free of 10% discount, I knocked off around 800 bucks, which while I feel I am still paying more than I should I wont bother switching for a mere few hundred dollar more savings. I would lose on things like my $0 deductible because it goes down each year with a clean record and would reset if I switch. You also wont know if the new company will simply tag my savings back on down the road.

What I did find out was that the agent on the phone told me, one of the reason why I am paying higher than some is because of the area I live. The place I live was consider high claim zone which in turn affects my premiums. So much for 20+ year claim free record. Since when do we started paying for other's mistake.

When is Canada going to regulate this crap.

Since the dawn of time, is this a joke?

Also, at government regulation improving the process. Get a grip. (..unless that was a joke too, in which case I'll see myself out)

The whole concept of insurance is to lump you in to a bucket of people who share something wit you. Age, gender, postal code, vehicle type etc. you have ALWAYS been paying a premium based on others behaviour. ALWAYS.

Government regulation is the reason you are paying for the stupidity of others.

This is not a concept limited to insurance.
