Default Do you know anyone who has won big in the lottery?

Just wondering, do you know anyone personally that has won big in the lotteries? I'm not talking a few thousand here and there but at least a million?

I have never known anyone or have I known anyone who has known anyone else who has...I've always wondered about these, like maybe they are a scam and that they hire actors to pretend they've won it lol...ya I have a tin hat on.

I recently opted out of my company's lottery pool but now I'm like damn, what if....

One of our refuellers at the airport. His dad won $5million, and he gave $1mill to each of his sons. He was gone the next day, lol.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I bet a lot of lottery winners try to stay low key, and for good reason.

I know one of the ladies in the Mission, BC A&W lottery winners. It went to court. She got over a million. Didn't last long.

In 2005, four employees of an A&W in Mission, B.C., went to court over a disputed ticket worth $14.5 million that was purchased by another group of nine employees. The latter were given $1.1 million each by the lottery corporation and the rest was sent for arbitration in the courts.

At my previous job they won 1 million and had to share it between 35 people so they each got around 28,000 here is where it get fishy alot of managers, supervisor and workers that never pitched in got some of the shares. i know this because there was a couple of people that told me they didnt pitch any money.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, you read it wrong.

It seems to me the person that left the next day was the refueler (one of the sons). Thus Mibz assumes he retired with one million.

What you comprehended was the father leaving the next day, which I believe is not what that comment is directed at.

Who says he retired? If you had a million, and were a fuel jockey, wouldn't you go back to school? We know he moved back to Halifax, but who knows, he could be broke again.

    Bingo.

If I was given a million in hard cash I'd put $900k into a secure, low-risk investment and take the other 100k and go back to school/paint/rock climb/whatever else I wanted to do for a while.

This. I`d invest it with a very reputable investment adviser, and live off the interest as much as I could. I`d probably have to work minimally but it would be at a job I really didn`t mind.

My co worker and I run a monthly office pool that everyone can sign up for, our GM wouldn't let us do it unless everyone signed a form each month when they sign up. Funny enough, he doesn't even play the lottery with us. But the form keeps track of who's playing/paid each month in case there are any jackpots won.

Forum friend hit one of the stampede lottos, not a baller, but his toys got nicer, vacations come more often... still a working stiff - just a few less stresses I'm sure...

I know a family friend who won 1 million last year. Funny thing is, his sister won 1 million as well, probably 3-4 years prior! Some people are just damn' lucky.

One of the managers at work 2 years ago called a meeting to tell us one of the other employees won a million over the weekend and wouldn't be back. Turning around and going back to my desk after that was extremely difficult.
