    Default Belgium Trip Review

I just got back from a weekend in Belgium and it was a wonderful trip. What a cool country. It was pretty cold there being the winter and all, so I'd love to get back there in the summer.

My favourite part was definitely sampling all of the delicious beers available at the Delirium Cafe in Brussels, and the brewery tour in Bruges.

My review with pictures is on my blog, here: http://baldpacker.com/belgium-bruges

Thanks. Hoping to get all of my trips updated as a bit of a travel guide but it's going to take some time.

My MSc is in Oil & Gas Law through the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Just have to button up my dissertation in the next couple of months and will hopefully be finished then.

I'm staying with a German gal I met in Paris so haven't been slutting it up this trip. I do have some good photos from Carnaval in Cologne yesterday though and there are a few chicas in that one.

Nah, I'm not a lawyer. Landman by training, and have been doing contracts & procurement work in Yemen the last 5 years. I'm not sure if I'm ready to move back to Calgary yet....I'd like to get into Business Development or a Financial Analyst type role but will probably take a year or two off for more travel first - I may also look at moving to Rotterdam or Barcelona for an MBA if I'm able to get accepted.

Get to Bruges - it's a beautiful city. Will probably be crazy packed with tourists though. It was even bad in sub-zero February!

I lived in Belgium. Great read. I miss it.

Ghent/Gent is also a fantastic city.
    Cheers,

Wish I had, but haven't seen it anywhere. The monastery doesn't sell for profit so it's not widely available. You actually have to call the monastery in advance, make a beer reservation for the max of 1 case, then drive there and pick it up (3 hours from where I am). Not only that, but you can only reserve once every 60 days from each phone #, and only make a pickup once every 60 days using the same license plate on your vehicle. Fucking tough beer to get!!

I did a beer tour in Brussels. When we left the Delirium Cafe, we went around the corner and down the next street. There was another place selling the Westie 12 under the table. Apparently there is a distribution company going to try to sell some cases in the US this year too.

Westvleteren XII will be available at Kensington Wine Market this Spring/Summer.

This is a very limited offer and they are taking customer orders.

Guess I should have looked harder. Oh well, just another reason to go back one day.

I'm currently writing up a German beer review, so don't think I've been thirsty because I couldn't get my hands on a Westy.
